First, there is nothing wrong with Glen Beck. I've watched his show a few times, (not the whole thing but a lot), and I NEVER heard him say anything near as hateful as the things written here about him. Makes you wonder who the real bad guy is, huh? (Yeah, I'm just pullin' chains here, don't sweat it).
Second, I've seen amps pick up AM signals over the years. Like all radio receivers, the signal comes in stronger with an antenna.
Your instrument cable and guitar seem to be serving as an antenna in this case, but I had an amp where just touching its metal buttons with your hand would boost the signal, using you as the antenna.
I've read that this is a grounding problem.
One thing to try is unplugging your amp and flipping the AC plug upside down and plugging it in again (if you can).
Another thing you could do is try a different instrument cable.
A third thing could be to have someone look at the wiring in your bass and make sure everything is grounded.
One guys says to "wire a 10pf cap across the input to ground. What this does is to run all radio frequencies to ground at the input."
If you know what that means and it makes sense to you, go for it.

I'm sitting here at my computer playing some tunes when the phone rings. I set my bass on the bed that's right next to the computer desk. It's my mom telling me stuff I already knew so the conversation was only 5 minutes long. When I hang up the phone I hear a radio playing somewhere. I look around and find that it's coming from my amp. I'm a little perplexed with this. Should I be concerned since it's a brand new bass? Should I email the builder? Should I care? I've never heard this before from a bass. I've had my guitars pick up stuff, usually through the effects, but this is just straight from the jack to the amp with a monster cable. Will this be a problem playing live or playing through a wireless?
