Something that's hard to judge from the pictures is the thickness and geometry of the neck. Are the neck angle and overstand sufficient? I noticed on a lot of German shop basses that I tried out, that they could use some help in this regard. This is a chance to put a shim between the fingerboard and the neck if desired, as the board is AWOL anyway.

Well I measure the neck yesterday and I get about 1 and 1/32 to 1 1/16 Inch thickness.... I need a little more time to get all the measurements

I don't know how old it is, but I'm pretty sure it's carved. You can tell by looking at the edges of the top and back plates. On a plywood or hybrid bass, you can see the layering of the plies.

I bought an old used DB, the label say Curt Wunderlich Detroit made in Czechoslovakia, I was trying to contact the shop but it seems like the are not in business anymore… does anyone can tell me anything about my DB?

Well yes I didnt know that they move my other Threat, but this is a separate question, i didn't want to bother, u may be too busy to answer beginner's questions.

As far as I know, if It´s made in Czechoslovakia it´s probable that it will be Cremona (Dont misread with others brand - Cremona Luby u Chebu was Czechslovakian brand of stringed instruments - Today working under name "Strunal")
or Schoenbach( Defying this was a bit hard, more info here http://www.talkbass.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-256833.html , its like connected) I really dont know much about Czechslovakian string industry in that time, so heres just pointer with some basic knowledge I know and info I´ve found. I hope it helps a bit.

As Schoenbach sounds german, its pretty normal as I see, as the borders werent so far. As I was looking through my local lists, lots of old Czechoslovakian basses that were sold were mentioned like "Cremona bass, schoenbach", so it was probably some hybrid of these two (?) or one of those. These two seem close.

I have spoken with 3 luthiers so far and the estimates for the repairs range from $4500 to $1200,just the fingerboard goes from $1000, to $600, and $350... some of then don’t want to do it, they said its too much work :)... last night one told me that the back opening in the back need to be fix of the bass can break, the rip crack is not a big deal, they said don’t mess too much with the cosmetic appearance that bass players don’t care for that J, I think the top repair its ok (I wish I could do something about the top crack appearance)

. I got one more to go, and I trying to find out if I should open the back or the Front top first

U guys left me all by my self :crying: , that's ok... Update!!! I did get some advise from one luthier, I am going to be opening the front to repair the bottom and the back opening, he explained how to…(He recomend not to open never the back because the bass will lost it shape!!!) I am waiting for my DB repair book to arrive, and he also showed me an used ebony fingerboard for $200, nice figure but it worries me a little knot in the back and a little wave in the front, I made a sketch for u guys to see it, by the way if you want to recommend somebody to buy a fingerboard from or you have one send me a PM, I am not at the point where I need one but I would like to start studying the case
