My GAS: Roscoe

Mine's done and should be getting it in my hands soon. I've played a few Roscoes, and they have never failed to impress. I'm hoping for a real match with this one. I'll let you know what I think. Think I'm going six string for a while!

Hey, I actually didn't mean it to be a teaser. TalkBass was down for me all day yesterday. Gard, I have a feeling pics don't do this bass justice- I'm looking forward to Friday and having a look-feel in person. I'm playing in a very wide open band now, and I think the six string is going to put me right where I want to be. The look of the bass is just right for me, and Jay likes its playability and sound (which is, of course, the most important part). So far, so good! I might start my own thread when I get it in my hands, until then you can see the pics Jay took over the weekend at the Blueberry Hill website under sold basses. BTW Gard, thanks for the wood for the control knobs. They aren't quite done yet, but when they are I'll have to see whether they add an extra cool touch to the bass, or are just overkill!

I way over-extended my bass budget (budget might be too kind of a word) in the last 2 years. If this six "fits" with me, it might end up being my only bass for quite a while. It would be very hard to sell my fretless Bolin at this point, because I have sort of gotten infatuated with the fretless sound, and would definitely miss not having that available. But I have recently decided that no bass is safe, no matter how beloved.
FRETLESS! Fretless you say! Roscoes are the king of fretless. Bolin Shmolin. Get a fretless Roscoe and you may never frown again!Akito said:

That just made me drop a "Holy 'expletive" while at work. That headstock shot is one hell of a teaser, and that body is simply amazing! I'm going to have to say that is one of the most gorgeous basses I've ever seen. I've been kind of getting away from the whole fancy wood thing, but that is incredible. Pure class.

I like Zon fretless a lot too, but the Roscoe I felt was just a little better. My #3 fretless would be an F-Bass and then Elrick. I haven't tried a Benevente though to be honest. For some reason, they just don't do it for me (based on looks only). You never know once you get one in your hands though.

Bryan, I spent quite a bit of time one day TRYING DESPERATELY to capture the "essence" of that bass...no matter what tricks I used, didn't even get in the ball park.
That bass is almost PAINFUL to look at.
I can't wait until you have it...I really want to see your reaction...
