My Most Expensive Bass Ever..

My first bass was a 1965 Fender Precision Bass. It cost me $350, and that included a Bassman 50 head and 212 cabinet of the same vintage. It probably would be my most expensive bass today if some butt-nugget hadn't stolen it in 1980. So now, I think my Sadowsky 25th Anniversary would be the most expensive one I have, although several others, like the Drozd, MTD and Laklands have higher list prices.
I think I can take the prize for this thread.....
I paid $5K for the 4 string Alembic Series I and around $6K for the 5 string Alembic Series II.........In the same week! (It was a helluva bonus year)
I could sell either for more than I paid for them today. I have no plans to sell either anytime soon. I'll be playing the 5 string at church tomorrow.

It is kind of a tie between my Modulus Q4 and Fender Jazz 5 String QMT as their retail price in the UK is incredibly similar...however I picked up one on e-bay and got a fab price on the other!

Isn't getting much in the way of love right now. Has been sitting on a stand as I am using my five string Peavey for 95% of the stuff that I am doing these days. But my band might be starting up again and I'll be using the Fbass for that, me and the guitarist are gear snobs (between the two of us our rigs are worth over $10,000 and we are both 19).

A '66 Rickenbacker 4005WB, bought back in May, that I had to send right out to have restorative work done. Barely got to play it, but man that neck is THIN. Still waiting for it to be done.
A Warwick Corvette Proline 4, which I bought as new for a clearance price of $750 at Guitar Center(it had some minor showroom blems). I later traded it even up for a new Highway One P with a nice Gator hardshell case.
That would be my MIM Fender Jazz, bought via Ebay for a total of about $265 including shipping. I may have the shipping too high, but it was pretty close to that.
And yes, I watched for about six months to find the one I wanted at the price I wanted.
I've added covers and a custom pickguard....
What's that SG clone in the way back of the picture? Got any better pictures of it? I have an SG clone that doesn't have a name on the headstock. The body, pickguard, etc is very very similar to mine. Almost identical. I'm thinking mine is a Kay or a Teisco. Yours may provide some clues to what mine is. Mine is a standard electric guitar, but it still may provide some clues.

I got an awesome deal on my barely used Dingwall AB-II, $1800, which I had to sell two basses off (a EBMM Sterling and, regretfully, a Lakland 55-02) to pay for plus some. Absolutely the finest bass I've played yet. I can't ever imagine spending over $2k on a single bass.
Gibson TBird, paid £1400 (around US$2700 at todays rates) for it back in 2002.
Had to sell it to fund my move to NZ. Made a loss on it, but needed a quick sale. I still miss it.

I have bought 3 different basses that were around $2k each in the last year or two. I would make or barely lose money on all of them if I sold them now.
I have a good day job but $2k seems to be my mental threshhold as I gig a few times a month for about $100 and beer money. Hard to justify a Fodera Monarch and a Ritter in some of the dumps I play in. Although somehow bringing a Sadowsky and a vintage Fender is ok....
