there was a comment up above about real bassists only needing two pickups. That's great. There are plenty of 2 pickup-basses to choose from & if that's your thing, go for it. I guess I'm not a "real" bassist. Or, perhaps, I was demanding more from the tonal options behind specific pickup placement. You take a Fender Jazz bass, for example. Sounds awesome. You have your bridge pickup. Great. Jaco. Neck pickup....Awesome...kinda like a P bass. Both together are nice & punchy/ sizzly & pretty clear. What about the "in-between?" That's what I was after.....Which is exactly why I colaborated with Reinhard Jedamsik (of Delano pickups) and Fred Bloton (Bee basses). The Triple JSBC system is increadible. All joking aside. I hope you all can experience what it can do.
This tune is the front two pickups (middle & neck). You can't get that tone out of a P bass or a Jazz bass....or most 2 pickup basses, for that matter....yes..that's me on my 5 string BEE. Aint she a beaut!

hehe. "Choro" means "cry" (the noun, not the verb) in portuguese - it's a quite traditional style over here. Here are the videos for two songs, in a more contemporary fashion:
They sound a bit like samba and jazz. Improvisation is part of Choro, so it's a bit like jazz in that sense. The rhythm itself is a bit like samba, but calmer.
The bass is fantastic, I commend your choice of koa!
You are definitely a great player too. You'd have to be to order a 9 string, but boy can you handle that bass!!
