My New SX!

Shortly after I started guitar, I thought it'd be fun to take up bass as well. However, I was without funds until recently I ran across a roland 100w bass cube for $75 bucks! I couldn't pass up, and an upcoming payday gave me the money to buy me an essex bass :)

Oooooowieeeee...!

I have had my eye on one of those since they came out a couple of months ago. Well..how does she sound?

FG

Well this is my first bass and all, but to me, it sounds nice. I raised the pups because they were a bit low, which seemed to get me some more output. From what I can tell, they are pretty quiet. Not a lot of buzz. I still need to set it up, though.

I just got the same bass, put a tort guard on it, new S.I.T. Silencers strings, a tusk nut, some nut sause, and did a killer setup on it. I like a fairly low setup , and the frets are just fine. Adjusted the 'tilt" of the pups for even volume across the strings. I could gig this bass anywhere ,proudly. (and will)

nice look! i just got an SX myself and I'm flirting with the idea of making it my main bass, waiting for the new bass joy to rub off it a little though.

no doubt it's the best bass you'll play for the money, and with a 75 dollar cube, you've got yourself an awesome platform in which to learn! enjoy it!

First thing you should, if the only thing, is change the strings to something higher quality. That will make a huge improvement right away.

Nice bass.

That's what I was thinking I'd do once I get a bit more cash. Someone recommended: http://webstrings.com/ But there are a lot of options. I've heard roundwound is better for solo and flatwound is better for a band. Since I'm only learning, I'd figure that I'd go for round. But then that leaves stainless or nickel. Thoughts?
