My NV610 facelift idea

OK guys stop emailing and callign Jim. LOL

He can't do it. Their production is just not set up for it. Tolex is a far more labor intensive covering to do. I would know from working for builders when I was younger. It would literrally stop his shop to do these custom things.

Jim was very nice to call me and explain this and I completely understand.

Great guy. Reminds me a lot of Roger Sadowsky in the service department. I am very anxious to get the cab in July.

So, while it would have looked killer it just ain't gonna happen. Besides, Jim also has a point about people thinking it was an Ampeg. I wouldn't want people thinking it was either. I try to promote (pimp :D ) and talk about the manufacturers I choose to use.

Great guy people. From a service and genuineness point of view, Jim is another one of the good guys. If the cabs are half as good as his personality I am going to be flipping over this cab! Thanks Jim!

Mike, that looks fantastic. Superb idea, and it will not only look great, but sound outstanding, as well.

That being said, my new Bergantino IP 310 has pretty much been the ultimate GAS-reliever for me. I just can't picture myself wanting any other cab (unless I win the lottery, in which case I could make room for an IP 212 to add on to it). Of course, if I won the lottery, I'd also order an NV610 and a Sadowsky SA200 so I could have my ultimate tube rig, too. I can't believe how amazing the cab sounds. It was pure genius for Jim to build in a power amp with a custom DSP to make the frequency response perfectly flat. No other cabinet sounds close, to me.



BTW, don't bother Jim too much. He's busy working on a line driver for folks like me. :D :hiding:

One possibility Jim might be able to do is a custom color for the grill -- I have seen Bergies that have a chrome grill.

A royal or midnight blue grill would look really cool, IMO. Not as good as your original idea, but undoubtedly a LOT easier for Jim to do.

You're going to flip when you see the fit and finish of the Bergantino. They just ooze quality and attention to detail.

Inspired by the same 610 you saw on Low Down Sound, I ordered a version of the flip-top with 3x10 and 1x15 in the same box with the blue diamond tolex and the flip-top. The flip-top didn't quite work out, and my Ashdown is going into a roadcase, if it can prove to me it's worthy of making it through a gig (sorry, see my other post on Ashdown). The cabs that Don build are amazing. It sounds really good. He even did a sealed cab design for me, since I was going for that vintage tone. Honestly it kinda pissed me off when I saw that bass player magazine with Hamilton. I'm not a huge Aerosmith fan at all and when I saw their bass player ripped off my idea, it really got my goat. I guess I can't fault the guy for having similar taste to me. But, long story short, if you want a good cab, research more into Low Down Sound, they are a great value.

Do you have a thread with more information on this cab? I had tried to get Don to build me a sealed cab a while back, but he pretty much blew me off every time I asked.
