In the true scientific method - you don't really know WHICH ONE was off. You need THREE tuners to be sure!

There's an old saying - "A man with a watch knows what time it is. A man with TWO watches is never sure".

Moe: Say, what's the idea of the three watches?

Curly: That's how I tell the time. You see, (points at first watch) this watch runs 15 minutes fast every two hours. (points at watch at other end) This watch runs 10 minutes slow every four hours. The watch in the middle is broken, stopped dead at two o'clock. I add the time from the fast watch to the slow watch and divide by the two in the middle.

Moe: Well, what time is it now?

Curly: (pulls pocket watch from pocket) 3:15 ...

I swear by Pitchblacks. In my current band, my two guitar players didn't have pedal tuners, so I told them both to give me $60 and I'd find them a good tuner. Now we all three use Pitchblacks... I had to mark theirs so we wouldn't mix them up. Fastest, most accurate tuner I've used without breaking the bank.

Unfortunately, I can't really make this bet since we all use the same tuner now...

In my monthly jam, one guitart player uses a Fender tuner, I use my Boss TU-2, and the other one uses an old crap tuner that he has to smack on the top of his amp to get to work.

Nice. I think everyone one has had some gear that you had to smack around a little bit.

My Boss ME50B tunes a little low. My Pitchblack tunes a little high. The tuner app on my Android phone is right in the middle. I trust the phone. Free app on the android market and its awesome. Gstrings is the name I think...

You're right, its called gstrings. I've got it. It seems to work decently. I use it on the fly a lot when I'm not around my rig. And its free, boom.

a good comparison of 3 good tuners, i don't think there is much between them tbh,
the tc electronics polytune looks great too, a real step up in the tuner technology, the ability to check the tuning of all strings at the same time is a real time saver in the gig situ

I had one of those silver Fender tuners in my pedal chain (when I still used pedals).
It made this horrific noise twice during a gig, thought it was going to blow the mains. Everyone was pissed at me. Since then, I switched to the Korg AW2g clip-on tuner, which works awesome.
