My Sadowsky bass arrived today!

Now I've never heard anything about the glove.

- Alder body. The bass is in minty condition. I bought it from the first owner, a mandolin player, who had nothing but flats on it.
- I'm going to purchase a box a rubber gloves today and delete all of my shortcuts to bassgear.com.

Are the heel plate and battery compartment standard now, or options? Mine's a 2001, and it has neither. Not complaining; just curious.

If you don't look at the knob the only way it's backwards is if you "think" about where the indicator is
. OTOH if you "think" the indicator is straight away it works exactly like I said.Well, I tried... break out the soldering iron
Roger introduced the battery compartment years ago but stopped using it wasn't durable enough. Personally, I think it's wonderful. I have it one of my Sadowsky instruments. I rarely change the battery anyway...maybe twice a year at most?Originally posted by lump

Congratulations JR. There is something about the Sads that's hard to put your finger on, they seem to have some kind of a unique vibe gooing on. I have some very nice instruments, out of 11, there are only 2 basses "she" has on the not for sale list, one is my quilted maple top, '59 burst Standard 5. It shares that distinction with my Roscoe NAAM faux marble, pretty heady company for a "plain Jane."
Once I put some TI Jazz rounds on mine, it's the only fretted bass I have that I'll pick up just to noodle on.

The neck plate is on the 4 string basses only. The 5's don't have them because the butt end of the neck is wide & the control plate isn't large enought to accomodate it.Originally posted by lump

As Jim said, the pop-out battery compartment was used for a short time. They were problematic & deceided to go back ot putting the battery in the cavity.
Really nice bass! A true less-is-more bass.
Who makes the bridges for that bass?
Or are they only available on a Sadowsky?

just realized that the Sadowsky sunburst looks great on alder too and without a maple top!!!

That Particular bridge is made by Gotoh. I'm not sure if it's made only for Sadowsky, but I think it is. The bridges he's using now are made by HiPShot, again, I believe to Rogers specs.

I've always been more of a Roscoe, Fodera, MTD type, but the Sadowskys are beginning to grow on me more and more. Hmm... How are the fretless Sadowskys guys? My next bass will be fretless.

Bassmanbob, I was the same as you until I got one. I sold the MTD, both Roscoes, kept the Fodera(too pretty to part with) but it seldom leaves the case. The Sadowskys give me everything I need. The tone is what will sell you. The clearest, punchiest, most musical preamp you can get. Grab one, you won't regret it.
