My 'you know what drives me nuts?' rant!

The term "uber" drives me crazy.

I get ticked off at all the acronyms that we are all supposed to magically know, or learn by osmosis through touching the computer screen.

Can anyone give me there opinion or advise and where too find a page listing them?

For us relatively newbies, it takes a while of searching to find out what some people are talking about.

I'm with you. It's a German preposition meaning above,over or across depending on the context. It does not mean "super" like everyone seems to think.

I tell people to remember it The Oatmeal way: if you say "definAtely" with an A you are definitely an a-hole.

Something I noticed that I hear very often is weather announcers on TV and radio say "tempature" instead of "temperature". They would not say "tempate" for "termperate".

I've run into an awful lot of people lately who don't know the difference between Rogue and Rouge. Of course, spell-check is no help for them.

The Aluminum thing is just one of the many words that Brits think we spell wrong. With aluminium, they add a letter, but at least they pronounce it. They like to add a lot of useless letters as well.

I bet some of them are actually typos.

The things that bug me are when people say "base" instead of "bass" and bass drum in place of a kick drum. Those of us who were band geeks in high school know a bass drum and a kick drum are two completely different things.
