when people dont use punctuation not even commas or fullstops and you get lost or have to mentally fix up the comment or post or when they write long rants about things without paragraphs and stuff like that


Also; when people give advice or an opinion regarding gear/instruments and have no experience with and/or knowledge about said thing whatsoever.

Something that really gets my goat is when people post on the forum with very unspecific titles, such as "Need Help", or "Is this ok?" or "Why is this happening?".
It forces you to open up the specific posting just to see what's being asked.

Pesifically really, really annoys me!

The Ax as in "Can I ax you a question?" stems from old Somerset (UK) colloquialisms. In our speak it was/is normal to swap a vowel and consonant in the middle of a word, so;
pretty becomes pertty
Ask becomes aks
Wasp becomes Waps
This mode of speaking went across to america with early settlers.

Also the urban legend has it that when Aluminium was first shipped to America it was spelled without the second i and so americans now call it Aluminum. Not sure if this is true?

I've run into an awful lot of people lately who don't know the difference between Rogue and Rouge. Of course, spell-check is no help for them.

The Aluminum thing is just one of the many words that Brits think we spell wrong. With aluminium, they add a letter, but at least they pronounce it. They like to add a lot of useless letters as well.

Seeing as how Americans speak the English language, which was probably started in England, and the first European settlers to the new land were English, I think it would be fair to say that the English didn't add useless letters, but somewhere along the line Americans dropped the letters. It was possibly after the American Revolutionary War as an "up yours" to the mother land... But don't quote me on that!

I can see abbreviating things like "EBMM", but does it really take that much time & effort to type "pickup"? Come on, you have a keyboard, throw those extra letters in there!

I'm with you on that one. For some reason "pups" really gets my goat.

I use "pups" all the time. I say it out loud that way too. For me, it's not an abbreviation; it's slang. Like your instrument is your axe, your practice room is your woodshed, etc. (I forget: am I still [DEL]aloud[/DEL] allowed to use "etc."? )

AND I'm wondering how many misuses of colons, semicolons and/or parentheses I'm about to be called out on.

I didn't tell you how to spell it, I thought that that was how you guys spell aluminium. My American spell check on my phone doesn't let me spell it 'aluminum' so I assumed that was how it was spelled. My apologies.

The guy who discovered aluminium called it aluminum. Then it was changed to aluminium in England.
