N.B.A. thread

another epic loss for the spurs! destined to go down in spurs lore with .4 (fisher), 2006 (manu fouls dirk), and 2013 (ray allen hail mary). haha i gotta pull for the warriors now, but the clips have my permission to bust the rockets' collective tail.

but yes, one helluva series. 4 road wins in a 7 game series?
Reminds me of an article i was reading earlier this week about rumors of Deandre Jordan possibly being targeted by Dallas in the offseason. Basically said the Clippers should follow the Spurs model of longevity with same squad for years.

They've had alot of heartbreaks but also some good fortune (Horry tackling Nash into annouce table and the resulting suspensions come to mind). But the one thing to take away is that for all those heartbreaks you mentioned to occur it means theyre in position to be a contender those years. All those examples span a 20 year chunk of playoff basketball and yet theyre always there in the mix. A sign of a great organization. Just being in the mix, some years might go your way, and you might raise a trophy come june. Id take those heartbreaks with the occasional trophy anytime lol

Steph Curry wins MVP. Seriously well deserved.
W's were epically bad for years and years. New owners took some risks and made some changes, but didn't hire any big names (let alone 3 at a time), and the team has turned around in a major way.
It's great to see.

Yeah they had a great year as a team and its custom to reward the best player on the best team. Now youll still have those that debate would Steph be able to have carried the Rockets to the 2 seed just like Harden did dealing with all their injuries? Who knows. But id like to see the voting results to see if it was actually as close as they said all year it would be. I know Westbrook stole some first place votes as well.

But congrats to Steph Curry. Would have never expected an MVP from that little skinny point guard that was playing for davidson all those years back. Testiment to his work ethic.

Nice article about Curry and how unlikely this is, given the early projections about him.

This graf made my jaw drop:
“Remember, in 2009, this was a team that featured Stephen Jackson (who demanded a trade soon after Curry was drafted), Monta Ellis (who famously said he couldn't play with Curry right as training camp started), and Don Nelson (who was starting his final coaching season).”

Man, if I was him, I would have cried when the Warriors drafted me.:D

His dad (former NBA player) and his agent didn't want him to accept, and tried to talk the W's out of drafting him.
Looks like it worked out all right, though.

Ahhh. I remember Dell Curry well, btw, I was living in NC when he played for the Hornets. There's no doubt about where Stephen got his shooting stroke from.

I remember those hornets teams. Actually saw a video in the preseason that i think was called whos the best shooter in the Curry family. Basically steph curry had a youth basketball camp and had his dad and a few other people out to help him. Kids get into convincing them to have a game of Horse. Lets just say Dad still has a shot, ended up beating Steph pretty convincingly lol

Yeah but the playoffs are a game of match ups. Funny thing is I see them struggling against Golden State if GSW goes forward but not so much against Memphis. Yet i knew Memphis would take it to GSW. It's weird how certain combination of teams can lead to good series or blowouts. But being a Clipper fan for more years then I want to remember I hope you're right. It's also a matter of who stays healthy since several teams keep losing big time players if atleast for a game or 2 and we all know a game or 2 can swing a series drastically.

Yeah GSW got a wake up call and played great last 2 games. But idk as soon as i heard the "grindfather" lol couldnt play tonight i didnt give memphis a chance.

Weird thing is all series are at a game 6 but i see all the teams that have 3 wins moving forward. Maybe not all in game 6 but the eventual winners. No upsets.
