I did it. I finally freakin did it! After I spent the weekend at the Chicago Blues Festival, I took a walk down Lincoln Avenue to the Chicago Music Exchange. There, amongst the brother P-Basses and sister J-Basses, was my Holy Grail of bass guitars: the 1966 Fender Precision.
My wife doesn't understand, but I told her I'd sell several of my basses ('80 Peavey T-40; Fender MIA Jazz V; Fender 70's Classic Jazz; Lakland Duck Dunn), then make up the difference. Thanks to Marc Najjar, the bass guy there for hookin me up. I should have it Friday morning when I get off shift... all set up with flats, ready to rattle the walls and windows.

lovely... machines are 70's.
Man, I love the wear on it. Is it an A width neck? I have a 69 (yonger polyurethane brother to yours) and it has a C width neck.
thebrain said:Hi,
I was admiring your new '66 P, she's a beauty!! I noticed something and I didn't see you didn't mention it on your thread, so I was wondering if you were aware of it.. I noticed that the tuners on your '66 have the "R" stamped next to "Fender". Fender did start using those style tuners in as early as '66/67, but they just had "Fender" stamped on them before the '70s. The "R" was added in ~'72.
Nice! What are you stringing it with?
Nice bass! But then I noticed a familiar logo peeking out behind the body of that P-bass.
2010 Outback Bowl shirt, purple ball cap...do you happen to be Northwestern football fan?
