NAD: Peavey MiniMega 1000!

For the love of God, where are the sound samples.
I know I need to get some! been crazy busy, and all the time I have had in the studio has been for recording someone else's project. Might have to settle for some tascam clips.
So I finally had a chance to play the MiniMega at practice last night against my current head, the forum-darling Kustom KXB 500. I went back and forth a few times during the night through my Avatar 212, but it wasn't exactly a scientific study, and I was wearing earplugs most of the night anyway . With that said, I was really impressed with the MM and felt like it could do everything I would need, but I think it's going back. This shouldn't be taken as a knock on the Peavey at all; it's just that for my simple needs (most of my tone-shaping happens on my pedalboard) the Kustom does everything I need it to do. Not needing two heads and given the choice between a prepaid return label and having to deal with Paypal, shipping, etc, I'm taking the return label . I wouldn't hesitate to buy a MM again in the future if my needs changed - I was impressed by the build quality, the LIGHTS, and the tone-shaping possibilities. It would also be nice to be able to use the compressor & crunch if I ever had to go without my pedal compressor & VT Bass.

Ok. Sound clips... I discovered that I no longer have Audacity as I upgraded to windows 10. Any leads on free editing software so I can chop clips down?
Good luck with that! I had to replace the hard drive in my laptop a few months back and decided not to reinstall Windows. Prior to the changes I was dual booting with Linux. Now, it's a Linux only machine. Audacity works great on that platform....
I don't think they stopped, I never had any problems running it on 10. My sound card was a different story, but that's not an Audacity issue.
It uninstalled itself when I upgraded. When I went to install again, it said that they were not supporting it at that time. Not sure. Have to do some more looking in to it, to see if my little lap top will support it.

Yet another good reason not to "upgrade" to Windows 10 IMO.
Windows 10 killed my laptop. While it worked it was very buggy. It's okay though because it was cheap and I got it to upgrade.
Hemorrhoidal itch is better than 8.1...
Reading that sentence made me cringe!Or for the younger TB members you can substitute "DIY dentistry"!
TBH I've not tried either DIY dentistry or Windows 8.1.
I stepped off the Windows treadmill at W2000 (to Linux) and after the initial learning curve of a different OS haven't looked back. You would have to pay me a lot of money to return now.
That learning curve is really not a huge challenge if you are using a distribution that has good documentation. I made my change around that time as well but if I acquired a new machine with Windows on it, I kept it and dual-booted. When I hard drive died recently, I just didn't have the patience to reinstall Windows 7. Way too time consuming. With Linux, I had a usable machine in less than 45 minutes. The only concern that I had was being able to access my job's network remotely. Needed Citrix Receiver for that. I resolved that over the weekend.......
