NAD: Peavey MiniMega 1000!

I've been seriously considering this amp since it was first announced, but the malfunction reports have scared me a bit. I've taken a closer look at the Mesa D800+, but it's $300 more. Have there been any statements issued from Peavey perhaps about the "first patch" having problems that have since been addressed?
Mine was supposedly after the first batch that had problems, but it still failed on me. peavey fixed it, no charge, but I was gun shy after that, and I moved on.

When Peavey fixed it, did they tell you what the specific fault was, or what parts were replaced? Or did you just get another amp in exchange?
As I recall, it was some wonky solder joints. They also said that the " latest updates " were performed, whatever that meant.

I had the first one out in the wild, and its had no updates and is going strong. Like with any new piece of gear, initial reports seem numerous because we are viewing them trough the lens of TB. I'd be curious to see what the actual failure numbers are.

I completely agree with this. Glad your amp is a winner. On the other hand, there was SO much anticipation of this amp on Talkbass. It seems its release was continually delayed. Next, generally positive reviews. Now, not much chatter. So, I'm kind of seeking "after the honeymoon's over" reviews.

I really like mine. It gets as loud as i need. I usually need LOUD. But i think it also has more deep extension than some other amps. Which seems to make it sound less Mid congested that some amps now have BUT IT Is NOT Scooped.
The EQ set flat without any effects seems to be more open and full than some other amps. Dare i say channel strip without getting hung by the neck until dead by some nit pickers?
I think the mM is a great amp. I only wish the cooling vents were NOT on the top.. I have to remember to NOT put my iPad or setlist on top of the amp . .But that is my only compliant
