I've the Quilter and believe me, you need to hear it. It's got a few things need improving but the tone is dee-lish. :thumbsup:;)

Trudat! I mounted mine to a shelf and put it into a 2 space rack case (don't do this!). It got hot as heck. Apparently the design of intake and exhaust are too close to handle close quarters. I swear you could've fried an egg, very quickly, on that thing during a warm practice in our shop space. Obviously, like a true power amp since it's designed this way, you'll need to leave plenty of space above. No rack ears, I believe, because of this. Still a great amp.
I'm sure you don't pet a pit bull the same way you do a rottweiler or a chow, right? :woot:;):laugh:

I bought my minimega in the beginning of May and it wouldn't turn on anymore by the end of June. I sent it to Peavey for repair and it was there from roughly July-August. I got it back the second week of August and it was working perfect until just this past Sunday (sept. 18th) where the same thing happened. It wont turn on. It's been a basement amp for the whole duration I've owned it and the volume and gain have been set at 10:00 or below. So it's definitely never been even close to being pushed at all. I'm working with someone right now at Peavey in regards to getting a new unit shipped to me and my old one being shipped back. I hoping that this won't be a reoccurring problem with the amp. When it works I really do like it though. I just figured I would share my own experience.

Well I just got the new MM amp today. Played for a half hour to confirm it functioned. Packed it up and headed for the gig. Third set a friend is sitting so I'm checking it out. Sounds good, first impressions are positive. I wrote a short initial review in the Minimega mega thread just now gotta go back to work in a second. I'll try to take a pic and post soon. Later!

Came home and sat down to catch up on the FedEx golf tourney and after an hour fell asleep in my chair. Not cause it's golf but just tired and now bummed that Jason Day pulled out because of his back issues again. Then thoughts wondered back to the gig. And grin came over my face, uncontrollably. Just sat here smiling reflecting on how the amp was just slamming and thinking about how I hadn't been excited about my tone on that gig in that room before. Now my cat is hanging her head on my right wrist as I type trying to fall asleep on me so it's off to bed. Looking forward to three more gigs this weekend with the new toy. That was fun and I'm usually fairly blasé about my gigs, at least the ones I have right now. Gnite.

At this point there can be no denying these heads have a problem. I'd be screaming ( in a nice way, ) for my money back after the second failure. A number of folks have experienced multiple failures. Maybe Peavey should have spent some money on something else instead of a light show ( WHY? ) and a half dozen gimmicky sonic gewgaws.

I don't know what my options are since the store I bought it from wont do anything. At this point I have to deal with the warranty and all they can do is either repair or replace. I insisted that they replace my unit this time around. I'm hoping that it was just a bad batch I got mine from. I like this amp don't get me wrong. When I bought it I read nothing but stellar reviews. I don't usually post much on here, but I felt it was necessary to put a brief summary of my experience to help inform others.

So last night I wrote a little postscript to my comments on the MM NAD thread. Readers digest version is that sitting watching tv after the gig last night I just started grinning thinking about the evening. The amp just kicks like a mule. Even now I'm smiling and looking forward to tonight's gig. I haven't felt this way for a long time, years, and I've bought a number of toys in the interim. It's too bad I don't have any outdoor gigs on the horizon where I could break out all the Berg 12's. I've used four with my GB SM 12. But this amp would be a whole new level of slam. As to the blem factor, (this was a blem I got from Zsounds for $425!!) I looked it over top to bottom when I unpacked it and can't see a single mark on it anywhere. Even the Peavey packing box inside the shipping box was clean inside the second outer shipping box which was not very well packed. The gig tonight is a room that probably fits a couple of hundred if packed. I doubt that will happen, haha. I'm hoping for a good crowd so I can open it up,a bit more. I'll report on results after.

Another quick note. The room I played last night, I usually use the BX500 because it's a smaller room and just to keep it in rotation. The room tonight I usually use the GB SM 12. Bigger room also the power there is a little bit wonky and in the past at the jam I do there on Sunday's the Carvin shuts down when other guys sit in even though it never did with me playing. Perhaps it doesn't like to be touched by others. The Genz never shuts down. So it will be a test to see if the MM handles the funny wall power ok. We'll see, fingers crossed.

Hey Kirk, I saw that zzounds had one of those blems left yesterday, so I called to ask about it. It's a great price and comes with warranty, but I chickened out. The sales guy said virtually all the blems are customer returns and they can't say for sure how old they are or how many times or days (up to 45 trial period) they were used before being returned.

I'm not knocking zzounds, Peavey or you AT ALL. Just saying that I wanted to a new amp at used price, but then reality set in and I didn't pull the trigger (yet). Your glowing review is tempting me though.

Man, it took me a while to find this thread on a search for 'Peavey MiniMega'. The first few pages were all classifieds. The reasons for selling are hilarious. I can't decide whether to check out one of these or not.
