New amp day for me: sunn 2000s with matching 215 cab. Ill post pictures tonight and in the rigs of doom thread. Also for anyone who knows, the amp has two inputs in the back a 4 and 8 ohm input. How do you run 2 cabs with this guy? Do i need a y splitter cable or can i use both inputs and treat it like a 4 ohm load? Any help would be great, johnk im looking at you!

edit: heres a pic of the whole setup, im gonna attempt running the sunn with the 215 and also the 612 on the far left, but if it sounds bad ill be getting another 215 of some kind at some point.

You dirty basterd.

Awesome.

Yeah, you need talk to JohnK_10 and edbass.

Last 2000s I saw was 16 & 8 Ohm outputs, with a toggle switch added to make the 8 Ohm tap a 4 Ohm tap.

FWIW, I made an indestructible DIY Y-cable to run two 8 Ohm 1x15s at 4 Ohms from my SVT, so that's do-able.

---

Plz tell me you still have the V4 with both cabs AS WELL as the 2000s & cab.

my 2000S has an 8 ohm main speaker out and a 4 ohm ext. speaker output. when you run 1 8 ohm cab, obviously you use the main out. if you have a 4 ohm cab, you plug into the ext out jack, so you don't need (or want) to plug into the main out when using only one 4 ohm cab. there's a switch in the extension speaker jack that switches both outputs to the 4 ohm tap. if you have two 8 ohm cabs, you plug into the main and extension cab jacks, that way they are in parallel on the 4 ohm tap.

lol, unfortunately im selling the V4 because it just cannot take the abuse im trying to give it. every time i get it fixed i break it within like 3 songs. its currently being fixed and will be sold to somebody not trying to demolish it lol.

but i have the full SVT stack still and now the (hopefully with the 612) sunn stack. ill let ya know how it works out. and obviously im still running them with the ol' 77 RD!

awesome, thats what i thought because i know they werent meant to be run like this but i just wanted to make sure.

also, the set i bought actually came with the original leather covers which i thought was pretty awesome. i didnt even know they did these with leather covers back in the day.

I hate to add fuel to the fire, but you owe it to yourself to try a Sunn 215S loaded with EVM15Ls if you ever run across one. (The 215S is the side-ported one) It is my current "all time favorite" best sounding cab.

Sound clips of this rig would be pointless. I'd rather just see a copy of the police report.

Nice work. Somehow, you made two 8x10s look puny.

(P.S. I don't think that paltry assortment of sound-absorbing foam in the corner stands a chance.)
