That sounds good in theory but I would HIGHLY recommend a road case for this head. You can score one used. Just my 2 cents.

I always wondered why those cases are designed to put all the weight on the latches. If they fail, the amp falls out of the case. If I were going to tour with an SVT, I'd flip the handles over to carry the head upside down and eliminate that risk.

I've never stood in front of a store black friday/boxing day in my life. Around here used SVT classics go for $1600 (cdn.) so this was well worth it. Playing it right now...bye...

Good luck getting the amp out of the case then with it flipped over, unless you unload the amp on its top, not the feet...

My road case has thousands of miles on it, but most of the time the weight was on the wheels, not the latches. Most of the cases spend very little time bearing the weight on the hinges, only when being lifted to the stage or amp. Heavy objects without wheels always find a way to find friends to sit on that do have wheels. I hear you though, I wouldn't want to carry it too far like that, even though I'm sure it's ok.

The idea'd be to load the amp in the case normally, and turn it over only to carry it, then turn it back rightside up to unload it. I'm assuming that the case is sitting on a surface for the load/unload in the case.

Clearly, this wouldn't work for roadies, but in that case my budget would probably be big enough to just carry a spare head and case.

Edit: with Paula's idea to use four good latches, and wheels, the idea's maybe good for a goofy patent, but not much else.

Interesting. In my situation the road case stays in the back of my SUV. I transfer the head to the cab with wheel then through the door I go. Unless I have a very lengthy carry. Which I very rarely do. I dunno the idea of that head in the back of my car in no case with all my other gear around it doesn’t sit well with me. Stuff can fall over. Slide, move around. In that road case I could prob be in a head end collision and I’d be dead but the head would survive. Make for an interesting ad for a company who makes road cases. Lol

Road case??? Yeah, if I was toting it in a trailer with stagehands toting it, I'd do that. Driving around in a van? No thanks...it's heavy enough.

I'm going to Home Depot to buy one of those folding hand carts and some strong bungee cords.

I already ordered a custom cover from CoverAmp. I think they are the best you can buy.

I got a Coveramp cover for my Reeves. Super Nice! I got mine with the padding just on the face. I think it was $105. shipped to USA from Canada.

I got to the music store at 8:45 this morning. Below freezing, and I didn't have a hat or gloves. I was about 20th. in line, and my heart was sinking that one of them was there for the SVT. They opened the doors at 10:00 and there was a riot, people finding stuff and literally sitting on it. There was the SVT.
2011 made in China, in GREAT shape. $603 (U.S.) $799 CDN. 2 tiny dings in the tolex, and one missing knob.
I sparked it up, fan good, no noisy pots, shook the connectors, all the tubes glowing evenly. all OK.
Grabbed a MIA jazz bass, and Holy Dog! Sounds just like an SVT should. With the master on 2, and the gain on 4 I shook the foundations!
I took it to the counter, and re-affirmed that it had a 30 day return, and 90 day warranty. The manager said he'd throw in the 1 year warranty ($120 reg.)
I've wanted an SVT since I was 12 years old.
I have a gig Sunday, can't wait!! It's on top of my 2 GK Neo 112's.

AWESOME!!! What a steal. I think GC is a great place to look for bargains on gear, and have had a lot of savings buying used gear over the years. The warranty and the 30 day return policy is the cincher..

BTW...Make sure you listen for speaker farts, that’s a lot of HP for those 2-12s.
