NAD! SVT7 Pro (also comparing it to my Streamliner 900)

I'd like to add that the Shuttlemax 9.2 beats both these amps because I'm not manly enough to play an Ampeg!

Take away everything that isn't amp, and all I see is a big case with a lot of empty space.

I'm way too dumb for all those knobs
i'm not.
:.....but one of the nicest things about the 7pro is that it gets an awesome HUGE tone with all of them at noon, so IMO, having alot of controls is unecessary.
I find that my Streamliner I have to really move the knobs & almost NEVER have em at noon. The 9.2max I have my tube channel with lows at 10, low mids at 2 & vice versa for the FET. My GK cabs have tons of high mids which I can EQ out on both channels where its a little more tricky to do that with the Streamliner.
I had an Eden Navigator & that was way too many knobs to turn & get lost in bad tones. The 9.2max is actually pretty easy to navigate

knobs are great and i certainly have my share but most of my favorite all time amps had 4 (5 including the secong vol on my v4b ) and some had only 2 or 3

Knobs are cool. I've totally no objection to not having controls @ noon - but I don't like having to have em at extremes to get a fairly "flat" setting.
In a club I play in often, it's a boomy s.o.b. of a place.
Having to set the bass control @ 8 o'clock & mid @ 3 o'clock at "regular" venues, here, at this place, I have no room to move.
I like my li'l Shuttle 6.0 & I NEVER have the knobs @ noon on it.
I love my 7 pro also & the knobs are far more likely to be @ 12 o'clock on it.
Both sound great imo.

Just got back from a gig where we had FOH so I only carried a small Kustom Deep End 1x15 (200watt @ 8ohm) cab and played the 7PRO at around Gain 2 o'clock and Master at noon and the entire stage was shaking. I only added a slight boost to the 4khz Highs to have more attack.
It was epic, everyone said I was the loudest untill the sound guy boosted the volume of the guitars. I loved it!

Proper gig report - comparison 900 Streamliner and 7Pro
Took both amps out last night to the wedding we were playing at. Not a huge room, but no FoH support for the bass, so actually got the amps and cab (GB 810-XB3) working a little bit.
First set - used the 7 Pro. Fiddled a lot with the EQ (mids really) to find a tone which slotted in the mix nicely without getting lost in just low bass. Kept fiddling, and tweaking during the first set. It was OK, can't really say much more. I honestly struggled having enough brightness without it sounding brittle. And also struggled at finding a mids setting which gave me the clarity and cut that I was looking for.
Second set, out comes the Streamliner. ... instant satisfaction. Despite my perceptions of the amp being a bit mid-shy. In the mix it instantly had more richness and mid-clarity. I have used the amp in a band before, but at very significantly less volume.
THis event was my first chance to really put it through it's paces.
Once things were cranked a little bit, I found myself tweaking the treble down and the bass up (certainly compared to settings I'd used before). I perceived no lack of clarity or tightness in the bass, despite perceiving this at low volumes with the SL (could, of course, been the cab more than the amp).
With the SL I ended up with bass at about 11 oclock, mids (600 KHz) at 2-3 oclock, and treble at about 10. (gain was at 11, pre-volume at 4).
With the Ampeg, I heard it's own tone, and actually felt that playing with the EQ yielded less flexible results than with the GB. A bit weird really, as it's almost the opposite of what I perceived at lower volume.
All I can think is that this is really more of a comment on both amp's responses with my cab. So for me, it's going to be the Streamliner all the way. THe Ampeg is clearly a great amp, which works incredibly for some people, but the SL just has some magic which, for me, makes me smile.

thanks for comparing them on your gig. your live SL900 settings are the same as mine except i ran the treble at 1:00.
i do think that it's a great head. with my cabs, the 7pro just fits me a little better. i have my SL900 in the classifieds but i'm already having second thoughts about selling it.
, soi think that i'm going to pull the listing and keep it. and i agree, it DOES have a 'magical vibe' all it's own.
I've just been playing my new Shuttlemax 9.2, and it has stopped (luckily for my bank balance) any need for more amps. I have too many already, so Im going to think myself lucky and stick with what I have. I would like to demo the Pro 7 at some point.
Crazy- my experience is in complete opposite. Always found it near impossible to cut through with the STM and easily with the 7 pro, especially with regards to mids. May have to do with cabs and basses as well

I'll need to try setting that pre-volume up way more and will use less master for my volume to see what that does for me. I don't like a super-lota breakup so if that's what y'all are gaining; may not work for me. Still I'll try. And yeah, I'm fighting every day lately from ordering the Pro-7 to compare em myself.

I get plenty of mids and good tight lowend running my Streamliner through a Hartke Hydrive 410, but I have also rolled the tubes in mine.

My settings on the streamliner still give a completely clean tone with my bass.
As for ordering the 7Pro, you may as well. If you don't you'll always be wondering about it. Order one, compare the two amps, then you'll either end up with a "better" amp (for you) or you will have tried the 7Pro and got it out of your system.
What I say is Praise the Lord for the generous returns we are allowed on online purchases these days, allowing us to try things out.
My replacement 7 Pro arrived Yesterday... I got to play around with it a bit, and it is one awesome amp. Absolutely beautiful tone from top to bottom, and as everyone else has stated it has the potential to get VERY loud. I haven't played through it enough to be 100% convinced that It does "that thing" like My all tube rigs, but so far it comes really close. Honestly, the more I play through it, the more motivated I feel to leave the heavy-weights at home come gig time....
