I prefer, and I had my wife play too, we both prefer number one just slightly. If that's an SVT7 Pro I need to jump in the car and head to Guitar Center.

NAD! SVT7 Pro (also comparing it to my Streamliner 900)

a couple more responses and i'll reveal which is which. 
BTW, the 7Pro was eq'd a little but i didn't spend much time trying to get it exact, so i bet i could even get it closer if i took a little more time with its eq.

That is some scary stuff . How are they doing it with digital ? After all these years of svt pro 3 with more tubes included ete that in my head did not sound like the 7 pro
I slightly preferred #2. I think #1 is the 7Pro.
-edit- I should add that both clips sounded very good, and either would totally pass for tubes as far as my ears are concerned. Either way, the 7Pro seems like a winner.

okay, you've been patient enough (and i'm an impatient guy anyway), so here's the answer.....................................

IMO, they are easily close enough for rock 'n' roll.

Agreed. But the real props go to John's wife. If you've ever been to John's house you will know what I mean. That lady is a saint. He has more gear than a small Guitar Center. And a repair workbench. Yep, props to Mrs. K.

Dammit! Got it wrong. That'll learn me to try to use deceit and trickery to guess...when John said he set the SVT at noon, I was expecting it to be darker than the 7 Pro, which I found can be downright trebly with knobs at noon.
But man, that is darn close! I've done similar with the B-15 and PF350 mic'ed into the same cab, and it really is amazing how close you can get them to sound.

I just found this thread today, so I'm playing catch up. Have you ever tried the Mullard ECC83 in the Streamliner? Seems to me that it would clean that amp up nicely.

before i record the SVT/SVT7Pro clips with my Faital cab here's a little interlude music (clams and all) of my custom ric 325 bass (the one in my avatar w/middle pickup only, strings= daddario chromes) thru the SVT7Pro/3015cab set with all of the tone controls at noon:

I couldn't tell which was which but did like #2 slightly better due to a very slightly rounder and fuller tone.
Hmmm, selling the SVT would fund a new 7 Pro and rack bag.....

Thanks, yeah, i did try the Mullard in the SL900 but the RCA 7025's just sounded the best in it for me, but after hearing what it did in the 7Pro, maybe i should try it again.
Glenn Cornick rules! Nice job on that. Struggled for days on end trying to play that when I was 14.
It is super clean but is a CL for your purists.

the real thing is a bit more dynamic and transparent, and it has a special 'character' to it, but to me, that was to be expected. what i didn't expect is the sonic clarity with no wierd peaks or cloudiness, and the punch that 7 pro has. IMO, it's just about as close as you can get to an SVT in a head. i think that my UA 6176/crown comes closer, and easily sounds as good as an SVT, but the 6176 costs a bit more than an SVT-VR head does alone.
also IMO, if you want the clean tone of a tube SVT only louder, the 7pro actually beats the real thing in that department by quite a bit.
Excited me the first time you mentioned this.
It IS true, the unbelievably cool choices bassist's have.
