NAD!

Any idea what's happening for the UK? Seems the distributor here is changing or has changed...
I don't know, but because of BREXIT and distribution in the EU, I'm sure there will be changes.

We are not taking any new orders at this time, while we work through a staggering amount of backorders (mostly on the guitar side). The supply chain issues and shipping delays have made scheduling any build difficult to predict.

Man, you know you just can't beat this! The designer of Mesa bass gear who is so helpful here on Talkbass on explaining not only the Mesa gear, but sharing his knowledge about all kinds of info on various designs through the years, checks with his dealers to see where he can find a cab for a TB'er who just bought a Mesa WD-800 amp but can't seem to find a cab. It just doesn't get any better than that. Way to TO GO @agedhorse! Kudos and Huge respect!!

Could NOT agree more Dan! So awesome of @agedhorse to take that initiative for me. Huge thanks again AH!

are you able to utilize the DI into a mixer or something so you can rock through headphones?
I have the D800+, my band practices with in ears.... im basically bass to amp(a couple fx pedals to click in and out)DI to mixer and dang, i really dig the sound i get. At least you can enjoy a part of your awesome new amp that way.
Yeah I can do that ... actually was thinking about doing that until the cabinet arrives.

Was just about to comment that a few places has Mesa in stock, then I went and double checked... 3+ months back order!

Westside in Glasgow have been UK distributor for years but apparently no longer, shame as I've always found them very helpful with Mesa spares. Nothing to to with Brexit btw, apparently related to Gibson dealership arrangements.

I assume the no new orders will be the main cause, especially as most dealers don't tend to hang onto much Mesa kit due to the costs/it'll quickly sell. Sadly if the distro goes to a EU based company then BREXIT will have an affect.

Had never heard of Westside... They've got loads of good brands! Only a few miles from me as well.

Looks like they may have gone to individual dealer distribution, GuitarGuitar and PMT are listed on the Mesa site.

Ps apologies for hijacking the OP's NAD thread :)

This one of the prime reasons I went Mesa.

I disagree, Brexit disrupted all distribution arrangements in Europe as well as the requirements for safety/EMC certification (this has yet to be worked out by the governing bodies).

When product was shipped to the UK pre-Brexit, it was part of a single large global EU shipment (ie. container), that's not the case anymore.

Everyone knew it was coming and had plenty of time to make arrangements... Britain can't be blamed for not finding an EU distributor! That single container could as easily be going to Ireland, France or Germany or any other EU country. I'm wondering when Brexit will be blamed for Covid or nuclear proliferation in the Korean peninsula...

The problem now is that the container can’t enter the EU and then have contents shipped to the UK without additional delays, fees and hassles. Pre-Brexit, it was much easier and less expensive.

There’s also an issue with trucking within the UK, we have looked at direct shipment into the UK ports and then need to add 4 - 6 weeks or more for processing and inland freight, transfers and distribution to dealers.

I believe this is large part of what Gibson is addressing going forward, streamlining this process throughout all of Europe. Of course we have to get caught up building and shipping orders in the books as well.

That's certainly true :) We have fuel queues here this week with plenty at the refineries but not enough truckers to deliver it to the gas stations. At the same time as we are short of anything up to 100,000 truckers we also have 2.6 million unemployed and you'd hope a few of them will have drivers licenses and wouldn't mind learning to drive a big truck (I'd do it if I wasn't working). The world is a strange place.

Transportation is a huge issue that we deal with daily. There are bidding wars on empty containers coming out of China (and elsewhere) right now, the cost of shipping a container (including all the associated port and inland costs) is about 10x what it was pre-COVID. So, if a cabinet used to cost $15 to ship to the EU pre-covid, that cost is now $150. Because of how taxes, and especially the VAT are accounted for at import and upon retail sale, that $150 could end up costing you the consumer maybe $200.

There is not an easy solution to this either, everything will have to play out as it does.
