My body chemistry doesn't allow nickel strings to last for long, so I've stayed with (and have been very satisfied) with stainless steel rounds. My main bass has piezo elements on the bridge saddle and I do not wish to file it wider to accommodate a thicker string. This, along with the benefit (for me) of lower action, I implore you to look into a tapered end string after releasing a stainless string.

I'm hoping to get a funk-rock three piece going around here with some really talented friends of mine. If that happens, we'll probably be playing out in a 2-3 months. In the meantime if you know of any good open jams around I'd certainly bring it out to one of them.
