Name/show me some clunky basses.

I'm looking for some clunky looking basses. My apologies, I have no idea how to describe what I'm talking about any clearer.

I mean clunky as opposed to sleek. A tractor as opposed to a sportscar. A P bass would be more clunky than a sleek J, see what I mean here?

See, I love the looks and attitude of a Rick 4001/4003, (Oh! The shape! Oooh! that binding! Mon Dieu! Those inlays!Aiaiai! All that big chrome, like machinery!). Somehow however, those basses and me never really got along, playabilitywise. So I'm looking for alternatives to a Ricky, but with the same(-ish) attitude. The only things I can come up with are a Les Paul triumph perhaps, and maybe a thunderbird.

It's annoying that most companies I know of just copy a jazz for the millionth time, or come up with some other supahypasleek bass. I feel a bass of that type of design (though not bad at all) misses character somewhat. Perhaps that is simply due to the ubiquity, but I still feel that way.

Seau. Any suggestions? Or better yet: any pics?

...And yes, this is based on looks alone. What can I say. I'm superficial and have the depth of a wet stamp. Sue me.

Of course! The mighty T-40! Nice suggestion, didn't think of that. Still misses something lookwise IMO, but definitely a step in the right direction.

Stingrays: Nice, but not what I'm looking for. Trabens: Aw heallz naw, that's to clunky basses what bling is to jewelry; tacky and overdone. IMO. TY for the suggestion, though.

I generally view clunky and attractive as mutually exclusive, but I like where you're heading with this.

That is over the hills and far away in ugly territory, IMO. It's... It's like a smudge or blob.

I threw this together with parts of two different basses with a lot of innocent wood lost in the process. It's more punky than clunky, but is it in the right direction? Or are we talking big, phat, basses?
