My teenage daughter is a bassist and is a fan of Steve Lacy. She asked me to identify this bass he’s pictured with but I don’t know what it is. Kind of looked like an LTD but I don’t believe it is.

So, can anyone name this bass?

I did a club gig years ago, and was playing a Hofner at the time. Something crapped out in the wires of the control plate and was dead in the water. I would usually bring a back up, but just didn't that night cause it was a "theme" night and never had any issues with the bass. The bass player for the opener had almost this exact same bass and let me use it for our set. I was actually surprised at how well it played/sounded! I could have sworn his was a medium scale though as it felt tiny, but I'm a big guy so that's not unusually. There might be other scales of this bass, but I'm to lazy to google it lol.

I like dean basses. They are pretty good and not a lot of people really seek them out. The most famous player I can think of is the bass player with Wierd Al and I don't even know his name. I saw an interview when he said he loves how easy he gets a variety of tones and that they all sound convincing and not forced which in his case is a selling point when you look at the ground they covered rap to punk to everything in between.

Sorry for the derail but how cool would it be to be Weird Al’s bass player? It would be super fun and honestly I bet chicks would be all about it. Plus family reunions would be awesome when you get to rub in your family’s face that playing your 4 string guitar in your basement all through high school now is your well paying job.
