NAMM 2007 Pics!!

That 6-string Barcelona is killin' me. Did anyone play it? I wasn't too into the 4-string version, but that one... *drool*

Of all the basses I played at NAMM, that Barcelona VI was probably my favorite. It was extremely lightweight and well balanced, and the tone was warm and acoustic sounding with good presence and clarity. It had nice low action and a thin asymmetrical neck, so it was really easy to play, though the completely flat fingerboard took a little getting used to. Fit and finish were flawless. The body profile actually felt more like a thin (front-to-back) classical acoustic guitar than an electric bass. Very cool.

I'll have the one in the middle, and the one to the left please...:hyper:

That 4-string is probably the most beautiful instrument I've ever seen. I'd like to have a matching pair with that bass, and a 5-string just like it. If not, the Legacy would do just fine...:)

Joe Zon knows how to build basses, obviously.

Did Dominic show up to play last minute like he did 2 years ago? he played well into 5 pm and mesmerized everyone. I noticed all the basses are gone from the stands.. except I spy a pretty white one on the left. I wonder what lucky stiff owns THAT one?? :hiding:

DdP was playing at the booth around 3pm on Sunday, so close to the end, but nobody seemed to mine... It was great to see him shred on that vJ4! Mesmerizing for sure.

As for that White bass, that has to be one of the classiest Nordy's I ahve seen... definitely a bit of the Larry Graham vibe in it!

From everything I've seen, that Barcelona is the one that knocks me out the most. Man, what a bass! Did someone say that that one was Dan Lenard's personal bass???? If so, I've gotta make my way up to Chicago.

Other than that one, I have to say that Zon really seemed to have an impressive array of basses there. I've never been too interested in Zon really but those were some extremely impressive looking instruments.

Oh yeah...and Sage. Good luck to those guys. They look like they're doing some really fabulous work.

Wow, that's the Nordy that you were telling me about? I have no problems with that bass, other than the fact that Cooper touched it...... :) SICK BASS!!! :)

thinking the same thing a day or so into the show. I didn't see him, but then again, I was running around a bunch.

That 10 String Sage was actually really comfortable to play:

... granted, it is about the size of me. :smug:

Oh Stew, I got the Blue Nordy home safely and popped some heavy SIT nichels on it and the bass came alive...

Speaking of young cats with big reputations. I had been hearing Tal Wilkenfeld's (sp?) name a lot, and had never seen any video of her until the one with Marcus. I've got to say, I wasn't impressed. I'm not saying I'm any better, but I had heard a lot of hype about this girl. The video I saw was pretty much focused on Marcus the whole time, so maybe there is another resource out there.

Go to her myspace page and watch the video there....she's the real deal.............AND very young. She has a bright future for sure.

I checked her website and there was nothing there. I will look for the myspace page. I'm guessing it was just that video that wasn't great (I mean, who watches a video of Marcus and anybody and says the other person was great?), because after the link to the video was posted, nobody commented about how good she was in the video.

I'll look.

I looked at the comment that I made about her being young....truth is she'd be great as she is at any age. It just so happens she's quite young still. That means she's got a long time to just get better and better.

Sometimes it's important to just watch something or someone and not make a judgement right away....trust me, keep watching Tal.

Yeah, Dan was taking it home with him. I asked if it was going "to the vault" as his personal bass, but I got the impression that it might be available if someone shows enough interest.
