Cool thread - not to complain, I really appreciate all the awesome content, but 8 pages in and no Fender or Ampeg? :-D
Do not wanna make you sad but to be honest Fender never come up with super special things .
It is a jazz bass that make it passive ,active ,look vintage and ....

Nothing different plus because It has a lot of fan ,their creative fans made a lot of things before they come up with the idea and make it .So it is the same product with small differences .sometime same product with new name and added price .

Maybe an odd request but any new ideas or products in accessories, strings, or straps?
I just have this weird feeling we will see a few new bass ideas, a million "repackaged with new finish" basses, a few new amps, and tons of the same old crap.

We have seen many new ideas, products, and technology the last 5 years!
I wonder if we might be at a point of saturation for awhile.

I notice that the jack on the prototype is mounted with a plate, likely with a standard stereo jack behind it. The current Metro Express uses the Sadowsky typical barrel jack. Will the prototype jack arrangement remain on the production model?

Good question. I don't know the answer yet, but I can say that the NYC's do not have a barrel jack. They have a standard stereo jack. The barrel jacks can get loose internally and you can't bend them back into place... that's why we don't use them.

+1.
My current #1 bass is a Fender Jazz, so I'm not bashing on Fender, but they always do pretty much the same things.
I'm following with interest from Italy
Ciao, Gigetto. :p
As we were told here recently they issued a new SVT reissue this year and were not doing anything else til next year. I could be wrong though.
Same as Fender. Reissues, reissues, reissues, reissues...
