Love the pickup configuration in the two basses on the left. I played a Warrior with a similar pickup set in ATL a few years ago. Great sound. Any other manufacturers making basses with the MM/jazz in this arrangement? Being able to get the bridge pickup sound blended with the thick MM/HB in the sweet spot is a great, great tone. Of course, Warriors are great sounding basses anyway. Very cool.

Thanks for the Warrior pic. That 4 string Buckeye is going to haunt me.

Nah, I played that one and it actually seemed a little "harsh" through the mids for my tastes. The burst/rw one was just perfect. Really nice prominent, yet smooth and sweet highs, great for both fingerstyle and slap... with the EQ FLAT! Nice rich lows and authoritative burp when you favored the bridge... and if you solo it and bump the lows, watch out! :D

Those SC's he's making are great pickups. I was really impressed by them. I personally liked them a lot better than his other pickups... even in SC mode! :)

Interesting.I usually prefer Ash/Maple.But in the clips in the F bass thread,I much prefered the Alder/Rosewood as well.I have a BN 5 now.Im interested in your thoughts in the differences between the two.

we had Kevin's 5 string Brute in our booth during the entire show, this bass has been played and checked out by many players and received excellent comments

Hi Jorg, wish I could've made it out there this time. Glad to hear the Brute went over well. Did you get a chance to check out the five string J, the JXB-5? I think I saw a pic of Kevin Walker in your booth with it.

yes Brad, Kevin Walker played the JXB-5 in our booth; killer and super fast neck

Speaking of Ritters, it would have been nice to see something more in-depth in the BGM interview in issue #1. The Ritter website doesn't address this, and I think it's because the actual story might not be as good as the presumption that the same one guy has the time and talent to come up with all those designs, actualize them, go to trade shows, deal with customers all over the globe, make wine, set gems, apply gold leaf, paint, machine unique bridges, make pickups ... anyone know the story there?

Don't know about the finish work, but Ritter pickups are made by Haussel ( http://www.haeussel.com/ ) and the preamp is made by Noll ( http://www.noll-electronic.de/ ).

The metal thing at the Brubaker booth looks like an airstream trailer to me, but I see the Iron Man look too. :D
