Cool. I'll post a link here.

BTW, I just found a pic of it from George's site that's lots better than mine. For anyone interested...

Cool. I'll likely see you there then. :)

That is a winner Vic! Gorgeous lookin bass!

The only thing I don't like about that bass is the 2 piece pickguard (at least that's what it looks like from the "real-life" pictures). But that's such a minor detail... :hiding:

Gorgeous bass.
Nope, you're right. It's two piece. I think it might be the way to get to the battery. To be honest, I don't remember what the back of the bass looks like to verify, but I'll be able to check it out for myself soon enough. :)

I thought I was finally sick of J basses (slight) variants.

My mistake. Kudos once again.

Not really diggin' the rubber knobs, but that's me. Do these come as 6'ers and what's the price roughly? What are the pickups?

That five came together very late in the preparation for NAMM. It's a prototype (and basically a proof of concept) and in this case Kevin kept it simple and didn't trick it out. The plan is to have these available as a US production instrument and a custom too. The main thing that should seperate this from the pack is the Brubaker bolt-thru neck joint. It seems to work very well on a J too.

So for right now prices and options are in flux. Pretty sure a six will be available, along with other knobs, tops, finishes, etc. I'll try to update as decisions are made.

Dominique Di Piazza was using one just like it at BPLive 08. Nice one Vic!
Wow, cool... that was a good lead into youtube. Check these out... two guys playing at the same time on one of these... Hadrien Feraud / Dominique Dipiazza, and Hadrien Feraud / Nathan East! :)

Thanks Brad. Good luck with those. To stand out looks-wise in that gestalt is a great start.

Anyone check these amps out? I'm ambivalent about the brand, but I think these look great and the price is a real surprise. Unique tone shaping ideas, to some degree. I'll bet if it had a boo-teek builder's logo, or even just said Ampeg, people would be wetting themselves.

Verrrry interesting.....I wonder how that would work for upright......

Radial introduced a higher-end line of products under the name 'Forest Audio.' They have two preamps which look to be flat-out awesome for upright (or electric) bass:

Hidden point here too is that you can't get in early UNLESS you have an Exhibitor badge (which probably most of us posting here didn't have... including everybody from Bass Gear Magazine).

Otherwise, you gotta' wait until the "normal opening" (10am) and just deal widditt. :)

Or sneak in... :ninja:

nice!

what did these little guys do? were they sansamp like emulation boxes or more like an LR baggs para di kinda thing?

They allow for connection of both piezo (with variable impedance) and magnetic pickups to either a DI or preamp, with A, B, or A+B. Man, did they sound good! The piezo input was exceptional (though I only heard a guitar through it).

Gotta post a retraction on this... it's just the edge of the protective plastic. I honestly didn't take a close look at NAMM and thought I saw a seam in the guard, but after seeing it up close again now that I have it (as of earlier today :D:bassist:), it's one piece. They must just cut the protective plastic off partially to install all those knobs so the customer doesn't have to fight all those to get the stuff off.

Also, there is a battery holder on the back, so changing batteries is convenient as well. All good! :D
