F Bass jazz. You know that bass will play like butter.

It absolutely does. :)

Radial introduced a higher-end line of products under the name 'Forest Audio.' They have two preamps which look to be flat-out awesome for upright (or electric) bass:

Tom.

Tom, Vic, issue #2 of Bass Gear Mag is stuffed! Great job guys, and tell Vic Serbe he gave a perfect physical description of the Warwick Corvette; that's exactly how my $$ version feels and plays.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We're working VERY hard to make this mag the "real deal"... for a change... and we have some nice improvements planned as well. :)

Can anyone shed more info on this Marcus. I've got a Marcus 5er in black just like this one. Was it any special model or anything? I see it's pimping a Leo Quan bridge. Do they make a Marcus specific model now that allows string through? I might just crap myself...

Whoever took this photo, please chime in. Thanks sooo much!

That is TB'er MAISKESO's MM5... It's been upgraded with the BA bridge, Bart Pickups and Preamp and sporting some Black Diamond strings... That bass is killin'!

I think it's for sale... PM him!

Also, that is Dave McKeen of Keen Electronics playing it.

Gotta post a retraction on this... it's just the edge of the protective plastic. I honestly didn't take a close look at NAMM and thought I saw a seam in the guard, but after seeing it up close again now that I have it (as of earlier today :D:bassist:), it's one piece. They must just cut the protective plastic off partially to install all those knobs so the customer doesn't have to fight all those to get the stuff off.

Also, there is a battery holder on the back, so changing batteries is convenient as well. All good! :D

Oh. I guess I have no problems with the bass then. :smug:

Except the GAS it's causing. :ninja:

LOL!

BTW, here's a few better pics of mine where you can see things a bit more clearly, and also the back for the battery box, as at least I had an initial question about that...

I could live with that....that is one of the best looking Jazz inspired basses I've ever seen. I love that George stayed with his basic body shape for this.....and left that incredible preamp in there.

Vic, are these still 34.5" scale? I'm hoping he's doing the 34" scale on these.

+1! And "jazz inspired" is a GREAT way to classify it. Wish I'd thought of that. :)

Your wish is GRANTED! Yes, these are different... both the "standard" 34" scale AND a shorter top horn for a more traditional strap'd position. Both were kinda' issues for me on the BN5.

This really seems to be the best vintage/modern bass going. Great work George!

I always imagined his preamp being great with true single coils. Are those pickups more aggressive than his duals? The dual coils are too smooth sounding for me.
