NAMM: Traynor Big Block BB115 Combo Amp!

The Low Expander is the “warm pillowy” dial. I’m not sure what setting is considered neutral. At noon (midpoint) all my bass guitars by themselves sound smoother. At zero, the bass comes through better in a loud or busy mix. I always tended to leave any amp EQ settings at noon, but with Traynor I find the Low Expander really interesting.

So fast forward a few months...What can you say now about the BB115?
I was thinking of this combo rather than my subway D800 and cab ...is there really that much difference in tone during band mix?
thankx

The neutral setting is at 0.

The BB115 is considerably bigger than the SB115.

Considerable? I didn't find that to be the case. The BB115 has a slanted baffle. The SB115 is basically a box. I like them both but they do sound different. I can get a sound I like out of either.

I'm not sure I heard the BB115 to be darker, either - it seemed like it had just as full a range as the SB115.

@GrapeBass was there already a cabinet revision for the bb115? I'm looking at a used one and it has a big rectangular port on the right side. All the promo pics don't seem to have this.
That’s interesting. I got mine last year and it’s front-ported, big rectangular port on the right under the tweeter.

The current photos on internet don’t have this, instead there is a rear port, big rectangular opening on the bottom.

The pict on traynoramps.com interwebs was a release candidate that did not go into full production. There is indeed a port below the tweeter (I just checked with the woodshop drawings).

Yes the one in the listing has the port on the right. The guy isn't replying and the price is soo low that I think it might be stolen. 0 years on Kijiji, with no relevant ads, seems suspicious.

Ah well thanks for clarifying! Now I know for the next one that pops up.
