Tonight on American Idol, Ricky Minor was conducting and someone else played bass. I couldn't see who it was until near the end, then there was a quick shot and I'm pretty sure it was Nathan East playing his white Yamaha. Did anyone else see that?

That definitely was his bass, not sure if it was the man himself. Notice Ricky dancing tonight? Good stuff.
I agree it was his model Yamaha, but he was in the dark so I wasn't sure it was him. He did have a shaved head, and his profile looked like NE, but I'm still not completely sure.

When Carly Smithson was singing Jesus Christ Superstar, they did a closeup of his face and it was Nathan East. Seeing how the show is in LA and they have the budget and demand for the best players available, it definitely seems fitting that NE would be called up for the show.

Yeah. i saw him during this song too but i didn't say anything becasue my wife would have looked at me like i was crazy. lol
Oh and Carly's JC Superstar was a GREAT performance.
LOL! I did say something to my wife and she couldn't care less. I guess Nathan East is only a celebrity to us bass folk!

Lol. well i was going to explain that he plays for Clapton and numerous other musical endevours but i had a feeling she still wouldn't be all that excited.
I did notice that Ricky was directing and wondered who was laying it down.
I have it on DVR but won't see it for a week. We're on a week long family TV break.

i really dont like this show much....or tv in general i guess, but with this season, i dont think i've missed a performance by David Cook. that guy has some skill....anyone who ATTEMPTS Chris Cornell has some skill...lol
You know I was wondering who was playing bass last night too. I kept looking, but wasn't able to see anyone clearly. Whoever they were they were good. Nathan East is a great player and one of my inspirations to play bass. I have to say though that both times I met him at a meet and greet he was not a very nice person. He acted like we were bothering him. Just my experience I guess....still like his playing and will buy anything he records on. It's just a shame to meet someone you look up to like that and find out they aren't who you thought they were...(again, just my experience).

I was frustrated about that - it seemed to me that none of the judges had heard the Cornell version, and gave David Cook (who did a pretty good job with it, I admit) too much credit for having come up with the idea himself. After a similar thing had happened with Chris Daughtry and a Live cover of "Walk The Line" a few years ago, I could see that Seacrest went a bit out of his way to mention Chris Cornell a couple of times. But the judges weren't listening.
The real risk/reward was when Chris Cornell decided to cover that tune - like most 37-year olds, I have seen that video on MTV a thousand times, but the poignance of the song was never fully revealed to me until I heard Chris Cornell sing it.
Sweet. I've TVO'd it and will watch it tonight. I was busy playing MY White NE Model last night, which is a good thing

I've never liked American Idol until this season. That guy is really awesome.
I also liked Syesha's performance. She does have a future in theater.
IMO, Ricky tends to play really out in the front in the AI arrangements. Not really a bad thing, but sometimes a bit over the top.

Did you see when Syesha was performing and she hugged Paul jr, **busted** he was was looking dead at her cleavage! (LOL) I just thought it was funny.
Check it a 1:14, hilarious, I'd probably do the same, except i'd "sneaky pete", when the camera wasn't looking at me though.
