It’s not mint, pics don’t show the wear & tear here and there. For its age it’s in great shape… Like I said I was looking for something inexpensive to work on IF it needed fixing, turns out it’s good to go with the typical “set up” tweaks.

Honestly I had no idea it’s value, I just wanted a peavey to go with this older 450 max half stack I bought for $100

So I’m into the above rig & bass for $340

Wow! Next It'll be 'I just scored this corvette for $500 and drove it home!' Lol!

I have a T-40 it goes about 10lbs which I understand is on the lighter side. I love it, tone machine to be sure!

Any suggestions on what to wipe the body down with? It appears raw and unfinished so should I just wipe it with a dry micro fiber towel or?

I like to use Gerlitz Smudge Off. No silicones in it, they say.

Just used it to wipe the sweat and skin oil from last night's outdoor show off my Sandberg. It does a good job.

Great bass, great deal, massively heavy!
My deceased older brother was a bass player and this was his main axe. I learned my first notes on his bass even though I had to set it on my lap to play it.
I think I of him every time I see one.
The bass "disappeared" when he died when I insisted that it be given to his son.

Ah... I've seen this kinda thing happen before when the seller is an idiot. Listing says "Peavey 140". There's no such thing as a 140, seller misread the model number and googled it to no avail, and seller prob thought it was some crappy entry level axe, with absolutely zero idea about basses.

It should be (and looks) coated. A moist microfiber cloth should be fine. This is not a project bass, it's a collector's item. Not a wall-hanger, but a highly collectible player.

If you do hang it on the wall, make sure it is in q stud. Last of these I saw weighed a ton.

View attachment 4410235 This Peavey T-40 popped up locally so I inquired, looked at it and bought it. Good to very good condition for it’s age, all original, original owner as well. Everything works, no cracks, nothing missing. Truss rod was never adjusted during its life, it dialed in fine. Action still a tad high but not bad at all. It sounds fantastic, not sure why, I know zero about the pups but it makes some great sound from both the bridge and neck.

I had to make a custom socket(thinned the crap out of it)on my bench grinder to turn the truss rod nut. Im not gonna mess with the micro tilt, I’ve read it can be an issue or cause issues. For a whopping $75 bucks I think it’s a great sounding beast.

That is a beyond amazing deal!! This was my first bass back in the early 80s. I traded it in on a '76 MusicMan Stingray which is worth over $5k now, but I should have held on to it. I was in college and broke. That is a great bass guitar. Don't change a thing. It is in amazing condition. It almost looks better than the one I bought.

Mine at 10.8 lbs...I dont find that heavy at all..and I have a choice of 3 4" wide guitar straps to ease the load..great bass. Congratulations on your purchase shnapper.

Lucky you grabbed it... I've got a son down there that I would have had pick it up for me. CONGRATS!!!! For those that don't believe it... the case is now on CL for $150... unbelievably believable.
