Has anyone made a crack about how the money he saved getting this so cheap will be eaten up by the chiropractor bills?
There was a meme about the weight of these I saw just today that made me chuckle, but in all honesty, this is a heavy bass I'd put up with. Killer grab!

Wow, lucky x2. Cheep and incredibly light weight for a T-40. Be sure to read up on what the tone controls do. I was stunned by the range of sounds I could get from the one I owned. I had to sell the one I had due to the extreme weight.
So you paid roughly a buck a pound for it. 
I haven’t read all four pages yet, but I bet a Gibson-style truss rod wrench would do you. I learned that after taking a socket wrench to the truss rod of a ‘90s Fury and taking a chunk out of the logo. At least it wasn’t the sweet pointy logo on a minty T-40View attachment 4410235 This Peavey T-40 popped up locally so I inquired, looked at it and bought it. Good to very good condition for it’s age, all original, original owner as well. Everything works, no cracks, nothing missing. Truss rod was never adjusted during its life, it dialed in fine. Action still a tad high but not bad at all. It sounds fantastic, not sure why, I know zero about the pups but it makes some great sound from both the bridge and neck.
I had to make a custom socket(thinned the crap out of it)on my bench grinder to turn the truss rod nut. Im not gonna mess with the micro tilt, I’ve read it can be an issue or cause issues. For a whopping $75 bucks I think it’s a great sounding beast.

Thanks, the extra 5/16 socket I have that I thinned out slides right in with no stress on the TR pocket. I had an old Allen wrench I shaped the fit in the ratchet hole.

By the way, get yourself a 3½" to 4" wide leather or padded strap for it. Makes it a lot easier to handle the weight.
he same bass I bought for my son back in the late 80's. It sounded good and had a good neck on it. He used it in the Jazz Band in high-school. I told him one day that people are now getting $600 to $700 for them used, which shocked both me and him. He sold it long ago (He's 45 now) and when I asked him what he remembered about it he said, "Sounded good but was really heavy!" You got a steal on that one. I had one for a while back in 1987. Great sounding bass but my forklift broke and I couldn't lift it onto my shoulder.
I still can't believe how clean that thing is - and for $75 - dang! 9.7 isn't bad at all - agree. I just saw a nice sienna burst one on Reverb = $1500 and 11 lbs! I've been looking for a light-ish one of these for years. I'll be checking CL every day now after seeing this

Thanks to all for the well wishes, I honestly don’t understand the value of certain things and probably never will. I do like older, vintage U.S. made items of all types. I’m a big fan of the TV show American Pickers so this T-40 being made here on U.S. soil and at a time when I was in 8th grade is just cool to me. I almost feel bad about the price I paid, but rest assured it will be well taken care of, played and maintained properly… 
Y’all are cracking me up with the “weight” jokes/references. I knew very little about this bass when I went to look at it and buy it. I know a TON(pun intended)about it now thanks to all of you.
Now I just put it on the scale again and this is the Most I can get out of it. It’s lighter than my G&L tribute Jazz and about the same as my G&L L2500..
Now someone needs to tell me why it’s not heavy? Does wood lighten up with age or is it the low calorie T-40 unicorn?
