NBD: 2001 Sting Ray 4 Autumn Redburst Sparkle!

I've been wanting a maple board Ray again. Bought this fine example from Bo Diddley's former bassist.
He shipped it to me in a beat tolex hardcase that is covered in stickers from touring all over the world, awesome!
And what a killer color! Just amazing in person. Soon installing a Nordy 2 band pre to try to scratch that pre-EB itch.

Just got a tort pickguard installed... Now we're talking! Managed to get the sparkle to show in the sun for some pics.

My FIRST thought when I saw the top pics was "Man, that thing would be GORGEOUS with a different guard." Then you did it. That thing is a really REALLY good looking bass!

I'm a tort hater, but that works much better than that dark pearloid or whatever it is. I wonder if that was the stock pg or the guy actually chose that. Very nice bass.

Yeah man! I'm not sure if the bass came with that guard but it looked all wrong. As luck would have it a fellow TB'er posted this very guard wanting to trade for the same in black pearl. Thank you, God!

Sure do! Also, after buying a Nordy pre-EB style pre I am having second thoughts about going to the 2 band pre. I know the 2 band is supposed to sound "better." But I have the luxury of being able to A/B this bass against my 2003 USA SUB 4 with factory 2 band and the 3 band can get certain sounds that the 2 band can't. ie: mids cranked for finger style funk...

The new pickguard looks great Darren. I'm pretty sure the other was original since I saw a bass with the same finish that sold on ebay and had the same guard.
