This was just sold on TB. This is how you do a fake Fender logo. I know somebody else on TB has "Bender" in Fender font on their bass, which was pretty good.

I like it - nothing wrong with some satire. But I still like the idea of coming up with your own logo.
That sure is a lot of drama. Let's be clear: there is a HUGE difference between a guy faking a vintage guitar, right down to making it look somewhat authentic and selling it as the genuine article, and a guy making his own custom bass that is obviously not what it says it is on the headstock. If there's one thing that annoys me on the internet, it's how frequently posters try to say THING A is "just like" THING B, when they are clearly DIFFERENT.
The guy who sold the fake Strat was a con artist, thief and lowlife. bassdude51 made a custom build with a P-Bass headstock, and a Jazz configuration. Anyone who buys that thinking it's a vintage Fender worth thousands of dollars is an idiot. Anyone who buys it at standard Fender MIA prices may have gotten a less than perfect deal, but they still got a very nice bass. And honestly, you shouldn't go out and spend thousands on instruments if you don't know what you're doing.

Some guy's wife could end up buying this thinking it's a Genuine Fender Precision Bass, and spend the last of the money she got when she sold her hair to buy it. And then the guy will cry because he bought her a brush, for her beautiful hair.

And every time you put out an instrument with a counterfeit logo, you are contributing to the problem. You act as if it is so easy to know. Mellow, and I quote, "And honestly, you shouldn't go out and spend thousands on instruments if you don't know what you're doing".
I have never seen this site (which supposedly has the most knowledgeable buyers out there) go more than 5 days without at least one thread where people are asking - thinking they might get a real Fender, that according to our esteemed readers, is not. Last year they caught several million dollars of counterfeit instruments coming into this country, that were going to be sold as real. Even "respected" music stores have been caught with new counterfeits.
Counterfeit products cost US citizens millions every year, and include everything from watches to baby formula to electronics to clothing to car parts. I don't take that lightly.
Never mind there is no good reason to put on a Fender sticker on a non-Fender. "But I'm not trying to fool anyone. I just like the way it looks". BS

I may be wrong but using Lic. by Fender parts, the Fender logo can be legitimately used .. so ...Digging it except for the fake logo. Should say "Butter".Or maybe "Buttah" would look better.
Then why doesn’t Fender sell water slide decals? Why won’t Warmoth apply a Fender water slide decal to a ‘licensed by Fender’ neck for you? It’s because that’s shady and prone to fraud- put a few bucks and a little time and effort into it, and you can sell a Squier or frankenstein as a Fender model at a profit. Again, we see it every week ‘Is this a real Fender’ posts.
There is no legit reason to do it at all- 1 you want to make people think you have a Fender in your hands when you don’t (As though that’s some lofty and important goal- gotta impress the old rock dude that talked to John Paul Jones in an elevator that one time in 1974) or 2 You want to fool a buyer out of some $. Neither one of those two reasons makes any sense when you reflect on it.

Warmoth and other licensed by Fender companies have as part of their licensing agreement that no logo will be applied. I can assure you this is in contract.
Usacg, Lowe, even SX all had similar to F head stocks and they were served cease and desist papers. No F logos on there either.
This man’s assembly of a “counterfeit” bass is not a drop in the bucket compared to the fakes coming out of China. These are even branded Made in USA. These are fake Fenders.

I have 2 Warmoth builds I bought already assembled and set up in playing condition. One has a Fender logo and neck plate, the other blank headstock and neck plate. I don’t plan on selling either of these basses as they have my favorite necks of any bass in my collection. (Standard taper /jazz nut width)
That said I’ve told everyone I’ve shown and let play these basses what they are-licensed by Fender bodies, necks made by Warmoth and components manufactured by Fender and pickups by Fralin and Wilde. Full disclosure and proud of these as I would be a “true” Fender, and I have many of those too.

People who put fake decals on their instruments always offer up the same lame excuses:
"I don't plan on ever selling it." I've said the same thing about numerous instruments I no longer own.
"If I ever sell it I'll fully disclose that it's not the real thing." Gee, that's wonderful except that once it's out of your hands you have no control over how someone else represents it.
"It's obvious that it's not a real Fender." Maybe to bass geeks on Talkbass.
"All you have to do is check the neck pocket or the neck heel." So it's the buyer's responsibility to ask the seller to disassemble the bass and the seller will go along with that. Riiiiiigghhhhttt…
If a friend of family member bought you a Fender as a surprise gift and it turned out to be fake would you lecture them on caveat emptor and how they should have done their homework? No, you'd curse the swine who sold it to them!
