How’s the 9.5” radius of the 50’s original compared to the 7.5” of the AVRI 58”

To be honest I notice the 58 being a little thinner more than the radius difference. They are both just ideal like they are. Same pickups, which I like a lot.

I bought a used bass online that came in a metallic gold finish, and I was very hesitant about the color... until it arrived. It's different, but man does it make a good impression! Congratulations!

Ok, so for some time now I've convinced myself that my next P is gonna be a White one. Love me some white Pbass. Never had one. To heck with them other colors, it's gonna be white.

So I just had to do this. It was my 20th year of sobriety in January and my yearly anniversary is my "pass" for a new bass. This was the one. I can't say enough good things about it. I thought my '58 AVRI P was the one I would get buried with but now I'm not so sure. I apologize in advance for the dang flash photography, but it's dark out so just trust me...it's lovely. The color I've seen everywhere on line is waaay yellow compared to the actual deal so I did the best I could without natural light. Amazingly easy set up, super low and silky! Fit and finish is top notch, neck is just right on the official "chunk-o-meter" so not too fat, not too thin... substantial C. Got it set up, played it for an hour or so then went to E.R. to get infected finger (unrelated injury) drained and a tetanus shot...but it was the best hour EVER! Life's funny sometimes.

The bass is super nice, and the 20 year birthday is a BFD in my book, so congratulations! I’ll have been a friend of Bill’s for 22 years come May 1st and I’m now sitting here wondering if I can use your post to convince my wife that I should be able to get another bass. How would you feel about writing her a note saying it’s critical to my sobriety?

I sorta did the same thing. I bought a custom-made bass on my retirement (32 years of public school). I picked the woods, the colors, the electronics, etc. Since then, I have worked my "second act" for slightly over ten more years. I wonder if my wife will let be buy a second retirement bass?

That is so cool! I've been craving a bass that looks exactly like that, but haven't found one I felt like pulling the trigger on. Excellent taste! It is fantastic how much our taste (and everything else) improves once our eyes and minds clear up. Congrats! (30+ years)

Well done on the 20 years clean! I passed 24 years on Jan. 31 so I'm qualified to state that you are sober but still addicted...................to P basses! (We can all see the collection behind your new bass.)

A Jazz type bass could be the "methadone" for your habit. Ha!
