(Still off-topic... sorry) +1 for the Ergo EUB! I have that same one in a five-string, also thinking of putting it up for sale, only because I don't play it enough. I've had mine maybe 10 years without a moment's trouble with it. I'm not sure the guy (Jesse Blue) is making them anymore, so they may be getting harder to find.

Me, too...wound up just using my upright--which I also plan on selling now; I've gotten too grumpy about schlepping it to gigs...and then using the gig money to pay the chiropractor...

How does the Decision compare to the Mercalli?

I have been on the fence for a Rev and can't try them out anywhere.

I have been on the fence for a Rev and can't try them out anywhere.

I didn't know of any place where I could try them out either; I just read tons of players' reviews, watched every video I could find...and then took the plunge: Fortunately, it worked out in both cases.

The Decision is extremely flexible, especially if you do pop gigs, due to the combination of P and J pickups--btw, I really like its slap tone.

I'm not 100% sure yet, but I'd probably be less inclined to use it where I needed a warmer tone--which would be where the Mercalli comes in.

My Mercalli is my go-to 5 string for country, rock, musical theater and jazz/ big band gigs when I need that B; I love it for everything except a gig where I need a bright slap tone.

I don't usually post about my bass purchases, but I LOVE THIS BASS!
Never had a PJ bass before;I'd been wanting one for quite a while....this one, to be exact...
And now, thanks to JxBass, I've got one...
After 5 shows this week, all played on the Decision, I can say with confidence that it's well on its way to being my new #1!

I just doubled checked their site—any excuse to look at bass porn!—-not yet, although it might be cool if they added that option to the Sentinel—which is a short scale P.
Maybe you should put a bug in their ear about it!

As far as I know, everything is built in Indonesia, and set up in the US…come
To think of it, I'm pretty sure that all my basses—except my MM—are made there.

There's so much tonal variety available, I don't know how much that would even improve it.
I played through several different brands and sizes of amps this week, and was totally happy with the sound I was able to get from the pickup combination and tone control...and I figure that it'll only get better as I use it more.
After years of mostly active basses, I've definitely headed in the opposite direction; to be honest, I found most preamps convenient to have onboard, but the treble in particular always bugged me out--sort of brittle.

(The one exception--among basses I've owned anyway--is the G&L preamp, which, once I learned not to dime either of the tone controls--much less the volume!-- gave me just what I wanted to hear.)

I wouldn't say I have a strong preference, but I do have a preference for active electronics in basses. I also am not averse to swapping pickups. I'm good with soldier and all that.

However, I have a Thundergun and Mercalli and I wouldn't muck with those pickups. They are outstanding in the sense that, whether full bridge or full neck, though you have a wide timbral change, the overall eq isn't messed up i.e. you don't have a massive loss of lows on the bridge, or too muddy a neck.

It might not, technically, be a PJ, but the DUB KING is short scale, and I believe it has the same pickups as the Mercalli.
