picked up yesterday.

WAY beyond expectations.

bought from a shop at almost 1/2 the Carvin online price.

New 2015 model.

i was gonna swap in some Aguilar DCB pups.

but the new Carvin humbuckers and preamp are NICE!

plus it has the piezo bridge - likin' it.

Like some people I had an opinion about Carvin basses without ever trying one I finally got a chance to try one a couple of years ago and it was a jaw dropping experience and to this day I have never experienced that level of "jaw dropness" with any other bass. Congrats on a gorgeous bass.

oh boy, i had an opinion about Carvin AFTER trying them, and trying them...

and trying them.

for YEARS.
but this was back in the late '80's, early '90's.

i never liked the body or head stock styles. until i recently saw the Icon. i had no idea it's been out for almost 10 years.

before i got this, a couple of projects popped up a 6 string would make so much simpler.

i wanted a CB or an STR - but time and funds were if-fy.

then i went to the bassplayer show in LA a couple of weeks ago. carvin had a booth. WOW! they are really pulling out the stops these days.

then this popped up, made an offer - BAM!

couldn't be happier.

They must be thrilled to get such a good return on a used Carvin.



Nice axe, was Carvin able to provide the build/spec sheet? I know their S/N system is a total joke but this bass is recent enough for it to still be in the system.

The shop i bought it from said they bought 4 instruments from Carvin in September, 2015.

No idea what they paid. None of my business.

I haven't contacted Carvin about this bass.

It arrived in a Carvin shipping box, with a Carvin case and a 2 sheet product insert.

Very nice. I just got my Icon 6 recently, it is a new version 2.0 model, and I can't imagine a better playing bass.

getting an Icon fretless 5.

i used to have a really nice rob allen MB2 AND an AC40. thinking this way...

it's lighter than my STR Sierra 5. about the same as my ash Jazz.

VERY comfy.
