NBD: Cort is kinda incredible now?

Interesting, but would love to hear what you think after you spend some time with it.
Pretty shallow. At this price point no one really gives a damn, honestly.
Cortek build for FENDER, G&L, LAKLAND & PRS. I'm a vendor to them and they simply build to spec and have really improved in the past decade.

Jeff did that at his Peavey clinics and I'll bet he did it at his Dean clinics, too. His point is simple: the bass is perfectly OK off the rack and it's the player that makes the difference.

Nope. Look at the strings running across the sides of the neck and the pickup magnetic poles. I'd say that is the wrong bridge for this instrument, it looks to be too narrow.
Maybe the bass plays and sounds great, I do not doubt that. But this is a thing/issue/feature I would park the bass right back in the rack at the store for.
I learned guitar around 13 or 14 on my dad's Cort, that he had since he was around 14, so probably 60s. Super high action, fickle tuning.

Ok, I know what you means, but I don't think it is a big issue , if I own one, I will install a fender vintage threatsaddle bridge.

Also, I have a friend who has a lower-tier Cort acoustic guitar and records with it all of the time, and it sounds great.

I confirm it's a silly argument, your post will be quoted quite a few times. I assume Jeff Berlin is worth 5 famous bassists.
But I'll play fair and risk to get quoted myself. Ibanez is well respected, yet name 5 famous bassists playing on one ? Let's say 4 besides Thundercat ? Let's say 3 besides Thundercat and Gary Willis ?
On the other hand/end, many famous bassists play Fender, are they worth the hype ? (joking, people, joking)
I won't pretend I haven't found a few cosmetic qc issues with the bass, but the bridge is definitely spot on. Maybe the offset body and the bass resting at a slight angle is making it appear that way in the photo?
In any case, for those who've voiced Cort distribution issues: my local store is called "Traverse City Guitar Company" they're a mom&pop shop, so you might have to be patient, but I'm sure they would be happy to order them for anyone.

Cort basses are fine, and anyone who considers them inferior as a brand, is suffering a case of snobbishness. I was considering very seriously an A6 before I bought my BTB and would love an Ultra Ash 5.
Are you serious about Ibanez? Do you know how many metal players alone rock Ibanez basses?
Disclaimer : my post was intently provocative to show the limitation of the 'brands recognition through famous bassists' thing. I'm well aware of the recognition of the Ibanez brand in the metal circles (like say LTD/ESP), but I'm less sure of famous metal bassists playing Ibanez, no offence meant.
Just gonna make some bullet point replies to recurring vibes in this thread...
Is this something I could fall out of love with someday? Well, because I'm not exactly in love with it. It's just pretty great and I wanted it in my stable. Love is a strong word. What I will say is that, should this someday collect dust, there are definitely certain things I expect to see in a bass now having played it.
(Contoured neck heels, there is no excuse)
- This isn't replacing my "expensive" instruments and I never indicated it would. It is, however, undeniably impressive and many companies simply do not have the features present here at this price point. Any issues I have encountered are minor, not untypical of the price point, and very few.
- I have plenty of fenders laying around for when I need to look professional, but my band has done a fair amount and I can honestly say that no one has ever, ever, evvvver cared about what I play more than I do. The most interest I ever receive in regards to what I'm using is when I bust out a Bass VI.
- International business practices do not thrill me, but I have gone down the road of trying to live with zero attachments to said practices. It was extremely expensive and I did not even come close. I got a great bass at a great price, and supported a local music store during extremely turbulent times. I feel pretty good about it.
- I have never seen a jazz style bass with a traditional bridge where the strings perfectly aligned with all of the pole pieces. Literally never. I have owned and handled a lot of them at a wide variety of prices

It's hilarious because guess who Cort's biggest customer is: Ibanez!! It always makes me laugh when the interweb says 'don't touch Cort, buy Brand X instead' when Brand X is actually made by Cort themselves (only at a higher price because Brand X need their cut too).
