Wow... that’s a lot of caps considering I’m not technically yelling.

So, I played a similar bass a bunch over a few days trying pedals, killing time, and just noodling because I’d come to like it. I almost bought it twice, but didn’t because it was to much like 2 others I already own, 6 string soap bar pup’d basses, and while nice, not better. Still, I was blown away by the quality.

In searching for other reasons on the GC site, I saw an open box RB-1006 for about half price. I ultimately caved and ordered it, telling myself that it wouldn’t live up to my expectations and I’d send it back.

One of the main reasons I was interested was for the Aguilar pups; yes, I’m a huge fan. Plus, Gotoh bridge, Grover tuners, spalted maple, and wow...

I know... not the most premier brand for some, but it’s worth a look.

How's that single coil J sound?
Much has been said about the position of it.

Yep... read all that and listened to Rocco play his 4. So, first I should say I almost never solo the bridge pup on any bass, but I have. This one sounds like a bridge pup to me. I wanted the P pup and while it isn’t traditional Fender P tone, it is very good. I’m still playing with the settings and will change the strings, but otherwise I’m digging it. It’s a looker but more importantly it growls like a P and has that tone that I was looking for.

Hope that helps.

Nice, that’s one of the cooler looking tops I’ve seen on those. I dig ESP. I think they just get a bad rep because they sell so many low budget basses and guitars and that’s all most people see. Imo everything in the 400 and 1000 series ltd range is good. I’ve had a few and even recorded an album with the f-415fm. Our guitarist actually owns 5 LTD guitars two deluxe eclipses, a 6 and a 7 string SC and an Thinline acoustic. He likes his deluxe eclipses more than than the les Paul he had and he paid like $400 used for each eclipse.

That model was on my short list when I was in some $$ a few months back. I opted for a bongo 6 instead. Not saying I regret my decision, but that bass looks incredible!

You know, I really like the Bongo too in many ways. I’ve never played one and still I am very fascinated by them. It’s easy to put the qualifier “for the money” on this bass, or it’s sisters, but they are as nice as any Fender or other production bass I’ve played. Dare I say, maybe even better. And, well, you know, the price is right.

No need to play it down. It's a fantastic instrument by any measure and the people that don't play ESP or poo poo on it have no idea how nice the quality is. Beautiful scalloped neck joint, beautiful woods, killer pups amd hardware and 9 lbs? For a 6-string are you kidding me?

Congrats bro and congrats on the deal and enjoy every minute of it.

The bongo plays and sounds top shelf. No regrets there. The look is....unique. I happen to like unique, and I lost my "cool" card after we bought a minivan to schlep around 3 kids so image matters little to me. ;) The bass like yours has always been appealing since they were released. Something about the inlays, body shape, spalt, and pickup spacing rounds out an appealing package. Nice buy, I hope you play it well!

Sweet bass. Owned the RB1005. Really great bass, regardless of price.

I almost bought the 5, but the price of the 6 made it hard to pass up. Last I looked, they were still giving one away on GC and Musicians friend. Plus, the 6’s appear to be discontinued now. The 4’s & 5’s come with Ebony boards too. Does it seem odd to anyone that ebony is easier to get than rosewood?

I digress... thanks for the kind words to all

I just purchased an rb 1006 open box from musiians friend for $699. I was hesitant because I've seen a lot of negative reviews mostly having to do with the pickup placement. The bass looked so cool that I couldn't help myself. Anyway, the bass sounds incredible. If you like the precision and jazz bass sounds then this bass is for you. I have had a lot of love hate relationships with most of my other 6 strings because they always have that soapbar pickup setup and has that " new over processed piano like sound". This bass is as traditional sounding as it gets and why I love it. To each his own I know that

Grats!!! I know you’re going to love it! I usually solo the P pup, but I have run both at times.
