Probably the smallest bass that I’ve ever owned, definitely the one with the longest name. Great build, balance, and playability; pull up the volume pot for the real surprise. In humbucker mode this is the big fat-azz Gibson that many of us freely and proudly admit to loving, going single coil makes it into an articulate and gritty little snarler. As much fun as a box of puppies, superb basses. Very well done, Tennessee.

This bass has become my #1. Gibson really built a nice bass here!
my Epiphone Thunderbird Standard IV definitely has a longer neck if not model title, it's spoiled me, can't imagine a better sound or even look at my buckin' Squier Bronco now, and it's a killer little bass. if Gibson ever does a credible run of LP DC Tribby long scales for the saner price these came out for I'd be down just out of curiosity. doubting these necks could handle the stress. the 2 local ones I encountered at our GC were famously atrocious but everybody likes them when they're cleaned up so there's something going on there. yours appears prettier than most as well, congrats!

They’re short scale , 30 in . Mine quickly became one of my favourite basses to play , my only regret was not buying it sooner . Mine had been sitting in a warehouse and had the famous fret sprout , but once it was cleaned up I discovered a really fine little bass in there .

Standard SS at 30.5”. It’s the small body that gives it it’s “tiny” feel to me.
thanks! gotcha --- i have a couple of small-bodied axes, and i agree: the small bodies change the feel --- i like 'em!
A lot of short scales have the bridge about 1/3 in from the edge of the body , and they don’t feel all that short . The DC Jr has the bridge close to the edge , it’s small (and comfy) .
Thanks for the review. I’m eyeing Gibson-style short scale instruments as a change up sound. This one is on the short list.

Congrats on the new bass. I have one and its my #1. But I want to add to what you said above. This thing definitely does NOT have the Gibson mudbucker sound that many are familiar with. It sounds nothing like an EB or SG bass. Its a fat tone, but had plenty of midrange punch. Not muddy at all - its actually very articulate. Some of it is probably the pickup design, but also the placement. Notice how far back the pickup is located, almost in the P-bass spot. Not up against the neck like classic Gibsons.
