I really really enjoyed reading these bits

For anyone interested in how it sounds... here is a short clip I recorded of a good ole Duck Dunn riff played on rounds. Sound is straight from Noble to Apollo.

Thanks for the well laid out and detailed comparison! Is the Moollon body slightly smaller in size, or is that just a camera angle giving that appearance? Maybe a smaller body is why it’s about a pound lighter than the Maghini?
No the sizes are identical, not sure what gives it that appearance, but I think it's just perspective. I've noticed lots of P-Classic IV have come in in the 9 pound plus zone, so I may have just got a blank that was particularly light.
And honestly, you could freeze me in mid-play, take the P-Classic out of my hands and replace it with this bass and it would barely register. And Jon could [probably] do custom neck contouring, I'm guessing. Just sayin'.

Indeed, the sizes are exactly the same. I would attribute most differences in weight to the wood selections. The alder in my Maghini was heavily grained, almost looked like swamp ash before Jon sprayed it. My model came out weighing in the mid 8s.
Yep, Jon can tailor neck profiles to your liking. He has templates built from vintage models ('58 - '64), but you can specify your desired amount of chunk.
Jon had a Charcoal Gray P-Bass w/matching headstock at Summer NAMM a few years back that was killer.. I'm not usually a P-Bas guy, but this was tempting to pick up.. He had my 55' P-Bass 5 string there as well.. It's a great bass, loaded with flat ones right now... He's building me a Jazz stack knob 5 string now and I'm looking forward to this one...
