NBD-Mockingbird Heritage Classic

You said you bought 2 in the 1st post, where's the red one? Doing any mods to it? (Btw, I really like the mods you are doing/done on the black one)

John, are you secretly a really famous person? You can't have designed the mockingbird and have ALL THOSE BASSES AND AMPS without a wicked awesome job, or being famous (or maybe, winning the lottery). Which one is it, job, fame, or lottery?

i'm famous in my own mind. ;)

my job was that i had my own guitar shop from 1985-2005 (& started working in a music store from 1973-2004) so i'm just accustomed to having alot of gear around me.

here's a pic of the red one:

since i like chrome hardware on them (like the original), i'm planning to put chrome heads, bridge and knobs on it. i'm definitely going to relocate the horn strap button and make a new headstock face for it out of rosewood with the mother of pearl "R" on it. i may go all the way and put a tummy cut in this one too. then i'll decide which one i want to keep and sell one of them.

i just weighed the red one and it's 8 lbs 8 oz so if i put some ultralite heads on it, it'll be a full pound lighter than the black one. the red one also has a chrome logo on the headstock as opposed to the black one's white logo. to me, the logos really don't matter since i'm going to redo them with a bc rich mother of pearl "R" anyway.

since i like my basses to be as light as possible, i'll probably keep the red one, switch the hardware on them so the black one will have the black hardware and the red will have chrome. and if i do keep the red one, i'll have to put a tummy cut in the red one too.

i relocated and installed the 'extended' horn strap button on the red one today, and i decided that it's also going 'under the knife" for the tummy cut tomorrow, since it just makes them so much more comfortable to play. i also ordered some chrome hipshot ultralight tuners, a chrome bridge, and chrome knobs for it.

Why don't you use a piece of quilt and dye it to match?

the red one already has a quilted headstock with transparent red that matches the body, but i'm going for the original rosewood headstock look with the BC Rich "R" on it, since i like the 'vintage' look alot better.

here's a pic of what i'm going to do:
