among the other 3 basses that i've been working on, i finally got around to getting the headstock overlay underway on the black mock.
i planed/sanded the face .065" in order to accomodate the .065" indian rosewood veneer and it is now installed. i also cut out a mother of pearl "R' logo inlay for it. hopefully i can cut the inlay into the rosewood tomorrow, glue it in, and get a couple of coats of sealer on it.

and here's the inlay placed into the approximate position that it is going to be:
funny thing how just redoing the headstock is really starting to make it look more like the original. and i'm going to be making a new white corian nut for it to replace the black plastic one, as well as make a new truss rod cover out of either polished aluminum or polished brass (the original's was polished brass).
