NBD: Mod Shop Silverburst P

I sold an old EBMM Music Man Sterling last month and used the funds to scratch the Precision itch I’ve been having for a while. I was thinking an AmPro II, but then I saw the Silverburst finish in the Mod Shop and the block inlays.

I know it resembles the Troy Sanders signature, but I wanted to get away from active electronics (hence the sale of the Sterling) and really wanted a classic single P pickup sound. The American Vintage 1960 pickup does not disappoint.

I’ve heard scary stories about Fender QC, but there’s not a thing wrong with this instrument. Frets are great, neck is great (even after journeying from Corona, CA to frosty gray Western NY), all I had to do was lower the saddles to my preferred buzzy low action and it plays like a dream.

All kinds of good looks on that bass, Wow. Pick guard, neck, body, it all has the looks. First photo looks better to me. Maybe second photo is sun or other reflection since it looks more towards gold or bronze, but still fantastic.

Good eyes. First photo was just ambient cloudy sunlight and more accurate to the actual color. Second photo included ceiling LED canless lights and does look yellower. It’s definitely silver and black. Too bad I’m not a Raiders fan.

Thanks. I’m all about black, white, gray. Cars, clothes, basses. Keep it simple and everything always coordinates.

That's sweet. I love Mod Shop. FYI looks like those strings aren't all set in the right grooves. That bridge is made to enable multiple spacings.

Good lord, the eye for detail on this forum, I love it. I have already tweaked those spacings as well. I love honking on the G string so I like to have it scootched in a bit.

No need to apologize!! I love the eye for detail and everybody looking out for everybody! I’ve always felt as bass players, our job is to hold the whole group together and make everyone sound good. So it’s in our nature to be supportive of each other.
