That Mod Shop graphic kinda looks like you took a black-and-white photo of the bass, then Ted Turner “colorized” the neck like an old movie.
Seriously, some good lookin’ bursts in this thread. I thought I was a diehard “sunburst or bust” guy, but the silver is… wow!

For the love of all that is film-geeky, please, do not associate me with the dolts who gave "Ol' Blue Eyes" brown-freakin'-eyes! Or, to quote Orson Welles a couple of weeks before he died; "Don't let Ted Turner deface my movie with his crayons."
And, now that I've gotten that out of my system, yeah...I gotta agree. You're on to something, there.
Yeah, there's something special about Silverburst. Personally, I think Fender should embrace it more, rather than keep it limited to the Mod Shop, Meteoras and Troy Sanders' signature basses. I guess they want to keep it "special" that way, ja?
What really kills me is that I'd come up with a nearly-identical idea back when Fender offered their American Design Experience. Long story short...I could've gotten a similar bass, but with binding on that blocked neck, for even less money than the Mod Shop.
That "miss" was a big reason why I pulled the trigger. I didn't want the blocked neck option to disappear before I could pull the trigger.

What pickup did you go for? I chose the Corona Classic and while it’s not bad, I wanted something different so I went with a Delano PC 4 AL, which was good…. But I wanted something different again and a bit more vintage so went with a Nordstrand NP4V. And now it’s amazing.
(Good thing I know a guy who’s happy to swap my pickups quickly for cheap!)

I went with the American Vintage 60 pickup. It’s the classic P sound I wanted, so I didn’t even check out comparison videos or anything. I could already hear in my head what it would sound like. And it does.
We bass players (and fine, guitarists too I guess) are a funny lot. Is there any other industry where such a healthy segment of the market demands new products that have not changed much in design or engineering for 40-50+ years?
Yeah, I kept staring at the mock up for weeks and eventually talked myself into it between the relatively small difference in price from the AmPro II, and the 10% discount for signing up for emails, which about covered that difference. Only thing I really wish it had was the matching headstock, but I’ll learn to live without it.
