NBD - MTD535

Margus. I absolutely loved your tone. What type of strings were you using; brand, nickel or steel? It sounds exactly the way I thought it would. If you make other recordings or a cd with that bass, please let me know. If you ever decide to sell it, PM me. That's my tone.

Thanks for your nice words! :) The strings were Stainless Steels of an unknown brand. They were on when I got the bass and they sounded ok, so I didn't changed them, just cleaned them using the Dunlop 65 string cleaner. The B-string is the exposed core type and the wrapped winding at the end of the string is yellowish/greenish. Any ideas of the brand?
I think the sound comes more from the way I played though.
I'll let you know when we have some new recordings.

I think the strings are Dean Markley SR 2000's. What you have described is what I have on mine. I agree with you, the tone probably comes from your fingers more than anything else. Let me know if you decide to sell those too. :-)

Wow, I had no intention to sell my fingers. Well, maybe my right thumb only then? Would you be ready for the trade - my thumb for your AG? ;)

sweet score! does she sound anything like #28? geez, i miss that bass... :D

Nope, the #28 was better although the wood combo was the same. Well, she was sexier to be true. :) Unfortunately I had to sell her during the economical crises. Yeah, sad love story for many men. :/ But I know who owns it now and I use some serious woodoo to get it back some day! :)

I was going that bass that you have; but did not have enough at the time. Congratulations... a Note about the pickups: the first 900 or so USA MTD basses made had ACTIVE Bartolini pickups (The pickups had an internal built in preamp). Now the basses just have regular Passive Bartolinis (the preamp is basically the same); but I think the early pickups sounded a bit better than current ones...if not better more modern I should say! The newer basses he makes are still killer instruments, but I prefer the older version. I have a 435 from 1998, it has a Gloss finish too....killer Bass!!!
Cheers
