Very cool.
I'ma go back to playing my custom 2 string now.
Do you really have a 2 string? I have often thought I could get by with 3 (BEA).

Well there's no need to be close minded.Yep.
I hardly play the G string as it is. To damn twangy for a bass, so that is a waste of at least five in my mind.

I did the YouTube search as well...
Very impressive Curtis!! Congrats on the new bass!! Looking forward to some more vids with the 11 string
Thanks man! Thanks for checking out my stuff!![]()
Where's the link to your You Tube stuff?
With that bass YOU are your own band.Beautiful bass, work of art. Just can't imagine showing up to a gig with it. I'd love one though. Congrats!
For those of you too "busy" to look up the OP's YouTube channel, here are a few that blew me away...
All I can say is that young Mr. Rielley has an amazing amount of talent, and a lifetime of great music ahead of him. Congrats on your NBD, and I wish you great success in your future endeavors.
Haha thanks! Its still is fun to break out in the blues jams and occasional rock cover band gigs hahaWith that bass YOU are your own band.
A maximum instrument for those who wish to do the maximum.
And maybe even more!
Thank you, and I really appreciate you're honesty and your adviceJust had a look at some of your other vids (just a minute or so of about 6 of them...... i'm at work) and one thing that really impresses me is the way your songs have matured. Some of the older ones you appear to be much busier and look like you're trying hard to be "impressive" with excessive tapping and trying to be as fast as you can...... to the detriment of your timing and hence the detriment of the song. It's like you're just playing "stuff" and not a song.
The ones from the last year, on the other hand, show more attention to melody, dynamics and the percussive work. It's the difference between a song that impresses other bass players to a song that non-musicians can also enjoy.
I'm reminded of a quote from a renowned guitarist (might have been Steve Lukather..... not sure) and it can apply to this type of ERB playing as well. He said that too many guitarists, particularly in solos, just play a lot of "stuff" without thinking whereas they need to think more like a brass player, particularly sax. These people have to breathe which gives their playing more room and lead guitarists (and ERB players) need to remember to let their work breathe as well. Your older work has a lot of "stuff"..... you newer work "breathes". Apologies if this sounds condescending, it's not meant to be as you are already 10 times the musician I can ever hope to be.
came in to a serious extended range bass thread
expected to see this
instead i saw this guy actually plays beautiful music.
congratulations on an amazing bass. play it in good health![]()
Thanks man!!! I really appreciate it! Scott Plummer is a sick bass player though!
Thanks man!!!!! Haha I'm still wondering what to do with it hahaCurtis is a great player. Congrats on an awesome axe and on knowing what to do with it!
handle your funky business!
Absolutely! I love jammin some Necrophagist and Obscura, I'm a little out of the loop on the others, I will check them out.all the tech death bassists are freaks.
brain drill, obscura, spawn of possession, necrophagist.
all of them, unreal talents.
Thank you, and I really appreciate you're honesty and your adviceI took me a little while to understand that music isn't the amount of notes you play, but what you play in those notes haha (took a little longer than I would like to admit) Its not condescending its something I have been trying to work on for a little while.
Thank you for the kind words as well!
