NBD: Rickenbacker 4003SW

The 4003 model has it not the “S” that is cheaper in fact for this (not an essential feature) and, especially, for the absence of the body’s binding that Rick will charge at an extra fee of, say, 300$ ..

If I were going to buy a new Ric, then it'd be the 4003SW. Love the walnut and unpainted neck, plus I'm a sucker for a maple fingerboard. (All my basses have maple fingerboards -- except the '80 4001, which is the "bass love of my life.") Also: in the 31 years I've owned my 4001, I've used the Ric-o-Sound precisely zero times.
My intention was to pluralize 4003(s). I know the difference, but thanks for helping clear up the differences.

Unfortunately, the way I see it is that Seb is having too much brain fade lately. He is getting a bit older and perhaps his mind and body are just not as sharp as they were when he was younger. Then again, Kimi seems to be about the same as he always is and he's older than Vettel.

The nicest sounding Ricks in my opinion. The walnut gives them a nice warm tone. Here’s mine...a bit modified. Hipshot bridge and noiseless JBE pickups.
I am really pleased to see some appreciation for this bass, if it was good enough for Chris squire and paul McCartney (albeit they had 4001S's) it should be good enough for everyone, and who really use the Ric-O-Sound anyway?
Who wants to pay an extra £500 for binding and plastic shark inlays anyway, (not that I have anything against them but they are an expensive add on) and the lack of them does not detract from the sound one little bit, this is one classy bass that has the aesthetics just right.

I have the same bass. It has balanced sound and lightweight body. Here is the sound and picture of it.
Shaped like a 4003? it IS a 4003 model! and in my humble opinion, a better oneWalnut and maple shaped like a 4003, what's not to love?
