Neck pocket looks neat. The cut for the ground wire looks very well done comparing to my Squier 20th anniversary P bass. The quality of craftsmanship in Indonesian factory is definitely better now.

Interesting in regards to the truss nut mine was also deep but I had no issues at all adjusting it, it is a bummer about the pick guard though, hopefully they make it right quickly for you so you can get back on track.

Actually, this is not uncommon on instruments at this end of the price scale. They drill the holes in the body such that you actually screw the bolts through the hole, this will hold the screw in place while you set the neck in place and then screw it into the neck. When the screw is all the way into the neck the portion of the bolt that has no threads will be in the body so that all of the threads are in the neck. I actually like it that way, as if I need to insert a shim, the threads in the body will hold all four screws in place after I back them out of the neck to insert the shim, and they are still perfectly aligned with the holes in the neck making re-attaching the neck very easy.

The CV 70's neck fit better then I thought it would. There is a minor gap on the bass side that looks worse in the picture then in person. That sort of thing was pretty common in the 70's and people pay large sums of money for the feature these days
While waiting for the (hopefully) correct pickguard to come, I decided to order a bridge cover as well and see how that looks.
A glimpse of what it'll look like with the black pickguard. Much better!
The neck pocket is super clean and replacing the neck was a breeze.
Under the pickguard is a whole different story. Next time I take the pickguard off I'll get a picture of that.

It ain't pretty but much to my surprise, it actually worked! Bass is nice and quiet now.

I wasn't going to, I kind of like the stock pickup. The problem with it is the cover is to big for the anodized pickguard I got and it appears to be wax potted all together.
I might try going at it with an exacto knife but I'll probably switch it out.
So the pickups cover is too big for the anodized pickguard openings? It seems as a divine signal to install alnico pickups .
You have pretty decent selection of alnico p pickups for up to $50. CV60, CV70, True Custom Shop Vintage Hot (eBay) and Tonerider P pickups, which I ordered for my project.

I just ordered a G.M. Thumpers. I've had it a couple of times and like it a lot. It sounds so much like the Geezer Butler pickup to me (I had them both at the same time years ago) that I'll never buy another Geezer again.

They are really nice. I keep putting them in projects then selling off the project. I'm hoping this bass sticks cause it's shaping up pretty nicely.
G.M. Thumper, pickguard and bridge cover are done. Just waiting on a Kellingsound soderless harness to arrive and it'll be finished.
Edit: Forgot to add, weight is right around 8lbs according to my people scale.
